Your West Midlands Wedding - Dec/Jan 2019 (Issue 65)

REAL WEDDINGS 45 A funny moment for the pair is when friends and family joked around about them always being late but on the day they ended up being on time and it was the registrar that was late. But, it didn’t stop there, when walking down the aisle the bestman stepped on the bride’s veil and ripped it out of her hair, they all saw the funny side of it. For the first dance, the pair had a treat planned for guests; Faye says, “I choreographed a jive to Why Do Fools Fall In Love , they’d never seen Paul dance before and he did a grand job!” Throughout the night the lovebirds’ favourite ’80s funk and ’90s RnB tunes were played. “We had a fantastic band called The Distractions, guests enjoyed singing and dancing along, especially my mom who knows every word to Rapper’s Delight. The singer ended-up just handing the microphone over to her!” Faye comments on the people that stood out on the day saying, “My make-up artist, Amy Laney was so much more than a make-up artist! Amy is brilliant and talented at her job and was there to step in at any moment. We loved her so much, my sister booked her for her wedding next year!” Another person that stood out was their photographer who was hardworking and professional but down to earth and completely kept the pair relaxed all day. Faye and Paul saved up all year for their honeymoon, along with kind donations from guests, they were able to afford a dream trip to Borneo – it’s been on their bucket list for years to see the orangutans. Faye says, “It was a trip of a lifetime, full of wildlife and culture! We packed a lot into our two-week break across the island, which included seven flights and a stopover in Kuala Lumpur on the way back – it was the most tired I think we had ever been but worth it! TOP TIP Faye says, “Absolutely milk your big day, it only happens once! We made a weekend of it, I stayed over the night before and we had a girly night with prosecco and snacks, then after checking out the day after the wedding, we all went for a Sunday roast with the immediate family.” 
