REAL WEDDINGS 45 deconstructed chicken and mushroom pie or shish kebab. Finally, the focal point of the reception, the cake, went down a treat. “Our cake was done kindly by my sister, who runs two cafes in Deal, Kent,” says Lucy. “We chose our three favourite flavours; banana with rum and caramel frosting, vanilla with fresh cream and raspberries and carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.” The food didn’t stop there as throughout the night fresh pizza was made for a quick and easy grab and go.  LOOKING THE PART  The day after her engagement the bride-to- be searched for dresses online and stumbled across a Wtoo dress by Watters and saved it to her phone. Fast-forward three months Lucy tried finding her perfect dress but had no luck. “After an unsuccessful morning in a couple of bridal shops, we had an appointment at Serendipity in Weedon. The very nice hostess asked me what I had already tried on, what I liked and didn’t like etc. Then she said she had a dress in mind that she thought I might like, and out she brought the dress I had saved three months ago!” The groom and groomsmen looked dapper in Cavani suits that were a pale grey with a navy pocket square and tie. Whereas the bridesmaids looked stunning in mid- length navy blue off-the-shoulder dresses. TIME TO CELEBRATE During the day the newlyweds weren’t nervous but filled with excitement. “As we were hosting the wedding at our own venue it was a relaxed day where everything flowed,” says Lucy. The couple’s choice of entertainment was a band called Hello Hurricane and a DJ set that got everyone in the party spirit. Lucy adds, “It was one of the best bits of the day, everyone was up on the dancefloor!” After the wedding the new Mr and Mrs both set off for a road trip to California for 11 days, the first stop was three nights’ long and then they headed out to the coast. The couple travelled up Route One from Las Vegas then LA to San Francisco, making memories to last a lifetime. After going through the whole experience Lucy shares her top tip when it comes to weddings. “Planning is key, you get out as much as you put in. Even if you think you are going into too much detail, you aren’t, it will pay off.” 
