Your Surrey Wedding - February/March 2022 (Issue 93)

STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD What mother-of-the-bride/groom styles will be popular in 2022? The collections for 2022 are beginning to arrive in store, and we’re seeing a repeat of last year’s trends with lots of structure and long-flowing silhouettes. Condici is perfect for a more formal, structured look, while the Veni Infantino collection offers flowing chiffon dresses in plain and print fabrics. Detailed necklines and Bardot styles are proving very popular, as are unusual hemlines. Colour palettes are ranging from subtle creams, golds and silvers to bright turquoise and fuchsia. Most photographers offer an engagement shoot, but we’re camera shy and don’t know if it’s for us. What are the benefits? There are many advantages to having an engagement shoot. Photographers usually offer this as an optional extra, and it’s a great way to get to know them and learn more about their style. You’ll learn what to expect during the day. This will enable you and your partner to be yourselves whilst candid pictures are being created. Use the opportunity to ask any questions, and be sure to let your photographer know what you like and don’t like. This will all contribute to a smooth and happy working relationship. Eray Kaya | Photographer www.irockvisuals.com PLANNING SOS We’re having a celebrant-led wedding and are starting to get nervous! Do you have any tips for the day? It’s fantastic news that you have chosen to invest in a celebrant-led ceremony. One of the very best things about having a celebrant is the relationship that you build with them. Another is that you will get a rehearsal! We practice the blocking, who stands where and when and familiarise ourselves with the emotion that is going to come. I specialise in nervous brides or shy grooms, and the best tip I have found is for you to see your celebrant ahead of the ceremony. I arrive an hour before and make sure the room is ready, meet the partner that is already going to be in the room at the start and then head over to meet and greet the nervous partner. I can tell and show them that the room is ready, that their partner is in good form and is ready to go. Your nerves will go, and you will soon feel excited! The celebrant will be the strength in the room, so you don’t have to be. Fall to bits if you want, cry, and get the nervous giggles as we will all love you for it regardless!
