Your Surrey Wedding- Page number 50 - June/July 2021 (Issue 89)

Hats off to our photographer, Trilion Productions, he did a miracle photographing our ceremony through the window due to not being allowed inside over COVID-19 restrictions. To make matters far worse, it was probably the coldest day of the year so far! We weren’t able to hire any entertainment, but we did our first dance in front of our family. We felt a mixture of emotions on the day. Firstly we were stunned that everything went according to plan as we were used to having our wedding plans thwarted! Secondly, there was pure joy and excitement. Lastly, sadness as Ahmed had lost his mother to COVID-19 in January, and we’d been so excited to share our special day with her. Andrew and Frances, our lovely registrars, were gr eat. The deputy registrar had a good laugh at our dreadful signatures that we signed in the register! Our vows and ring exchange was beautiful, and luckily the sun was s hining when we had our photos taken. Due to the pandemic, we had to downsize our 150 guest list to four people, yet it was still wonderful and so special. I’m sure all couples are feeling frustrated, we did for a while, especially with our visa situation, but our micro wedding was so beautiful and personal. I don’t like crowds, so there was somewhat a relief knowing I had just immediate family to witness our ceremony. My brother, Yousuf, and sister, Leila, both made excellent bridesmaids and coordinated in blush pink outfits.
