Your Surrey Wedding- June/July 2020 (Issue 83)

FLOWERS 91 LOOKING YOUR B ST Dressed to impress Grey is an up-and-coming hue that we’re seeing a lot more of here at Your Surrey Wedding. If you want an on-trend design that will make your big day stand out, then look no further than this gorgeous shade. Go against tradition with a completely grey dress but make sure you keep your accessories minimal, so you don’t detract from the overall look. Another option is to add a tulle skirt over the top of your gown. This can then be removed later in the evening to create a completely different style. Add a pop or colour through your veil or by adding a belt. A bespoke creation may be the best option for you but take into consideration the time scale and money involved. Most bridal boutiques suggest you visit up to a year before your wedding, but if you’re after a tailored creation, it may be worth booking an appointment as soon as possible to ensure you get exactly what you’re looking for. MODERN CHIC Grey can be a heavy colour, so to help you wear it with confidence we’ve asked make-up artist Holly Louise Britton for her top tips. Holly says: Whether you’re searching for a subtle look or something more bold and daring, your make-up can be tailored to suit your tastes. Start by creating a mood board focusing on greys and silvers. Put together a few swatches and choose outfits, flowers and accessories you’d love to wear on the day. This board will come in handy throughout the planning process, and you could also take it with you to your trial to help your supplier get an idea of the style you like. When thinking of how many eyeshadows to wear, the magic number is one! This is the simplest rule to follow if you’re worried about it being overpowering. Always start light and get darker as you progress, it’s easy to build but not as simple to take layers away. Add glitter or shimmer on the eyelid and in the corner to make your eyes pop. Grey is a cool tone therefore it’s important you continue with similar shades throughout your look. You don’t want grey eyes with warm brown lips as it will clash! There are some exceptions to the rule, for example, if you’re having a vintage-themed wedding and want silver eyes with a black wing and a red lip, it can look great. Don’t forget your hair! However you choose to wear it, you can incorporate your hue through flowers and accessories. My favourite would be a statement silver piece with crystals. My must-have products are Charlotte Tilbury’s Rock Chic Palette, e.l.f Everyday Smoky Eyeshadow Palette, MAC’s Silver Fog Pigment and Stila Heaven’s Dew Highlighter in Silverlake.
