70 ME E T T H E T E AM AT LONGAC R E S GA R D E N C E N T R E How long have you been in the industry? The Longacres Floristry Department first opened in 1995. Our longest serving florist has worked at the company for more than 30 years! Our team understand just how important flowers are on your special day. What’s your favourite flower? Our favourite flower has to be a peony. They’re so fragrant and always look impressive, especially when they’ve opened up. What do you love most about your job? We’re so lucky to have the largest cut flower showroom in the South East of England. Having such a big selection means we’re always surrounded by beautiful blooms which has to be the best part of our job. Which bouquet have you loved the most and why? Our most loved bouquet was a hand-tied creation that was made up of rich colours, beautiful smelling stocks, flowing foliage and silver eucalyptus. Best tip for choosing your wedding flowers? Establish a good relationship with your florist. This will ensure they get your vision spot on, and everything falls into place on your special day. What’s your favourite flower? I adore peonies. They’re a beautiful and voluminous flower that lend themselves well to most arrangements. My second favourite would be roses as there are lots of different types available in a variety of colours. What do you love most about your job? Creating posies and styling venues to match the bride and groom’s wishes. Seeing their day come together with the theme and colours flowing through every aspect is a wonderful feeling. Which bouquet have you loved the most and why? I love the sophistication and beauty of a shower bouquet made using red roses and greenery. Best tip for choosing your wedding flowers? Choose options that are in season so that the quality and price are good. Think about where you’re going to place them as some blooms don’t like to be in and out of water for any length of time and may end up wilting. Discuss the options with your florist carefully. You could use different flowers for your centrepieces and bouquet but in the same colours. Mixing lower cost options with more expensive versions like orchids can help reduce the overall cost.
