Your Surrey Wedding - October/November 2025 (Issue 115)

it sends to the guests is that this truly is the union of two families. FLOWERGIRLS AND PAGEBOYS Some of the smallest members of the bridal party are the flowergirls and pageboys – you may not have both (or either). Flowergirls are the only ones that are allowed to wear white at the wedding and they are often dressed in what could be considered ‘mini wedding dresses’. Their dresses are sweet numbers that typically feature puffy tulle skirts with ribbons in the wedding colours. Pageboys are dressed as mini-groomsmen and will often match the suits worn by the men in the bridal party. They can even come complete with vests, ties, and pocket squares – which is incredibly cute! Both the pageboys and flowergirls play important roles on the day, it’s important for them to feel comfortable so you don’t hear those dreaded tears during the ceremony or speeches. Always consider with little ones the seasons, you don’t want anything too hot for them in the summer, and ensure they’re suitably wrapped up in the winter. Could you consider two outifts? Something more formal during the day, but after the photographs have been taken, and the vibe relaxes, could the children change in to a second outfit where they are more comfortable, or even their own clothes for the remainder of the day? No matter what you dress them in, they will more than likely spill something on it, so don’t get attached to their clothes and take lots of pictures before they get near food and drink too! The idea of dressing your bridal party seems like a daunting task, but when you strip it back it becomes a lot easier to organise. Start with the biggest job in hand, the bridesmaids, and work your way down the list of priorities – you’ll quickly realise how easy it can be. The most important thing to take away from this is that there are no clear rules to follow, all you need to worry about is doing what feels right to you and what best represents your theme and wedding. You don’t have to have a full gaggle of bridesmaids and groomsmen if you aren’t that way inclined. Quantity doesn’t always mean quality and that’s a rule to live by! Stay true to your wedding dreams and ignore the cacophony of opinions coming your way. “The most important thing to take away from this is that there are no clear rules to follow, all you need to worry about is doing what feels right to you and what best represents your relationship.
