SUMMER TRAVEL WINTER WEATHER Q We’re tying the knot in the summer as we’re both teachers so the time of year suited us both; however, we don’t necessarily like the heat and wouldn’t want to have a hot honeymoon! Where do you suggest at that time of year that would be a honeymoon-worthy destination but a cooler climate? Great question! We’ve got suggestions for several different styles of honeymoons in destinations with a cooler climate, hopefully one of these will appeal! June and July are a great time for a Safari in Kruger National Park, South Africa, or in Namibia, which in June enjoy blue skies, no rain, and temperatures only up to the high teens and low twenties, cooling right down to 5-10 degrees at night. It’s ideal for wildlife spotting as the vegetation is sparse and the animals congregate around waterholes. If you want to combine this with a beach stay, you can hop over to the blissful Bazaruto archipelago in Mozambique afterwards for a bit of barefoot luxury on a cast-away island without any sweltering temperatures. Whilst most of mainland Europe swelters, June and July are wonderful months to explore cooler Iceland, which only really reaches spring-like temperatures even at the height of summer. The midnight sun means you won’t see the Aurora Borealis, but you can still hike on glaciers at this time, and the long hours of sunlight make it a better time of year for sightseeing compared to the dark winter months. There’s whale-watching, geothermal hot-springs, staggering scenery and innovative cuisine to enjoy. For something adventurous and active, we love Peru in July. This time of year sees clear skies and almost no rain, and because you’re at altitude for much of the time, temperatures only get up to a max of 19 Celsius for an hour or two in the middle of the day, dropping down almost to zero at night. Combine the beautiful scenery of the Sacred Valley with the magic of Machu Picchu and colonial architecture of Cuzco, hike in Colca Canyon, and sample Peruvian chocolate in Arequipa. If you fancy a luxury Indian Ocean beach resort-style honeymoon without overheating, we’d recommend Mauritius, which is in the middle of its dry, cooler winter at this time. There’s little to no rain or humidity, and temperatures hover around 22-24 Celsius in the daytime. If this feels like it will still be too warm, opt for a resort on the East Coast, where a refreshing tradewind keeps things cooler. This is your chance to define how you’ll be remembered in the photos, so why not enjoy the process? Experiment with prints, try unexpected colour combinations, and ask: Does this feel like me at my best? It’s not just about matching the theme — it’s about telling your story. Think about adding texture or contrast, like a velvet bow tie with a smart blazer or a conversation-starter pocket square with a tailored suit. At Dapper & Suave, we encourage you to bring curiosity into the process — styling should feel creative, not clinical. Top tip: Create a mini ‘style board’ with swatches, screenshots or even vintage finds that inspire you using an app or go ‘old school’. Bring it along to fittings to help guide your look — and make shopping more intentional (and fun). 2) On-the-day finishing touches Now it’s showtime — but think of yourself as both the leading man and the stylist. How you feel in what you’re wearing will show in every photo, so take your time with those final details. Consider layering scent and texture — a favourite aftershave, a splash of beard oil, or the feather detail of a lapel pin can all play their part. If nerves hit, check your pocket watch (no phone!) and take a deep breath — these are the moments you’ll remember. At Dapper & Suave, we always say the outfit is the frame; you’re the artwork. Top tip: Before you leave, take a solo moment in front of the mirror — not for vanity, but presence. Stand tall, check your lines, adjust your tie — and step into the day feeling like your sharpest self. Jason & Rob, Dapper & Suave info@dapperandsuave.co.uk | www.dapperandsuave.uk Madikwe Hills 52
