As we emerge from the long winter months, springtime nuptials make the perfect celebration, bringing everyone out of hiding! Everything about this time of year just feels joyous from the light, fresh flavours in food, to the oh-so beautiful flower varieties that come into bloom plus the lighter nights and warmer weather. When anyone tries to tell me that pastel palettes are out for weddings, I’m afraid I have to stick my fingers in my ears – la, la, la! Wildflower-inspired themes have made their way into my heart over the last couple of years and I for one refuse to see them fall out of fashion! Vibrant hues are all very well and good in any other season, but what could be more complementary in the spring than a glorious garden-inspired palette of pink, Peach Fuzz, lavender, sage and lemon? Be still my beating heart! There’s a myriad of ways to bring these shades bang up to date: just picture an ombre of fresh yellows with zingy citrus, lemon and mustard complete with Mediterranean vibes. Sunny and oh-so stylish. Dan was Fay’s personal trainer at her local gym, which is how the two met. They got on like the proverbial house on fire with Fay often listening to his tales of recent girlfriend trouble. The two officially started dating once the aforementioned troublesome girlfriends were off the scene and began meeting socially outside of the gym. Eventually, a few beers at a rugby match led to their first kiss! We fast forward to the couple’s first holiday post Covid, which they took to celebrate Dan’s 30th birthday. A few days into their trip to Mexico, Dan suggested they take a walk along the beach before dinner and that’s where he romantically got down on one knee to pop the question. “I was so surprised, and the ring is just beautiful,” Fay says. What made celebrations even more special was Dan’s friends flying out the following day to join them for his birthday. When attention turned to venue hunting, Fay and Dan found The Talbot and loved the look and feel of it. “We wanted a fun, relaxed day celebrating with friends and family and that’s exactly the vibe we got when we visited,” Fay explains. “A massive bonus for us was that we were able to include our dogs as part of the day.” It was the first and only venue they looked at and booked it right away for 2nd September 2023. Join us as we hear all about it from the bride herself… SETTING THE SCENE The couple kept their venue styling simple but impactful with bursts of fuchsia. The floral arrangements featured hot pink gerberas including the bouquets, buttonholes, top table setting and moon arch. The gorgeous centrepieces featured a mixture of low-level glasses with floating candles and gerbera daisies, while on other tables stood tall Martini glasses, also with candles and daisies. Place names cut from gold acrylic were attached to the top of the wine glasses and doubled up as favours for guests to take home. Loved ones were also treated to a shot of tequila each. “At the end of the speeches, we made everyone do a shot with us,” Fay tells us. The big-day bake featured three tiers: one blue, one pink and one gold. The catering was designed to reflect the newlyweds too. The wedding breakfast was a barbecue and hog roast feast, with all the sides. “We love hosting barbecues at our house, so this was almost the only option for us,” Fay explains. To finish, instead of a traditional dessert they opted for a doughnut wall. This was all followed by pizzas served during the evening. Everything served reflected the relaxed vibe they were looking for. LOOKING THE PART Fay’s A-line gown was the first she tried – it was love at first sight. Sensibly, she tried on a few others afterwards, but this was the one that she was excited to put back on. She tells us: “I had no idea what sort of dress I wanted so I went into the shop completely open-minded. I felt so comfortable in my dress and realised that was my priority: to feel incredible, but comfortable REAL WEDDINGS 33

and I knew that a lower-cut or a strapless style would only result in me pulling it about all day, feeling self- conscious.” Finally, the beautiful bride added a pretty diamante belt to complete the look along with a dramatic veil. Dan’s suit was blue with pink lining, which he wore with a gold waistcoat. He accessorised with tan leather shoes for the ceremony and changed into a bright gold pair for the evening do. The best man wore the same style suit as Dan, without the gold waistcoat, meanwhile both fathers had ties to match the man-of-the-moment and his best man. The bridesmaids were all dressed in one-shoulder floor-length royal blue chiffon gowns, and each wore their hair in messy, curly buns to one side. All the ladies, including the bride, accessorised with matching pearl-drop earrings. CELEBRATE IN STYLE “We didn’t want typical wedding music,” Fay shares. “So, we gave our DJ some ideas of what we had in mind, and he absolutely nailed it!” The floor-filling set list mainly included drum and bass, garage and some big party tunes from Beyonce and the Black Eyed Peas. MEMORABLE MOMENTS “We felt absolutely on top of the world all day,” Fay remembers. “My face hurt from smiling so much! We both said we couldn’t have asked for a better day, it was flawless. “Having our two Bernese Mountain Dogs with us on the day was amazing. The eldest, Raphael, carried the ring box down the aisle and handed it over to the groom. The other, Sully, was only a few months old but he absolutely loved all the attention! Fay was thrilled with the work of her wedding dream team. She says, “Our photographer was amazing; his shots are nothing short of perfection and we felt so at ease having them taken. Samantha, who did our hair and make-up was impeccable too; she was so calm throughout the whole morning, even when timings didn’t quite go to plan. We had so much fun getting ready. “Krystyna from The Talbot was nothing short of fantastic! Throughout the planning process she answered queries quickly and nothing was too much effort. She’d thought of most things before we even asked anyway! On the day, she was cool and calm making sure everything went to plan and that we had the most perfect day.” REAL WEDDINGS 35
