Q&A Beauty Look and feel your big-day best with help from the professionals GONE WITH THE WIND I’ll be walking down the aisle outdoors. How should I wear my hair to avoid it looking messy if it’s a bit windy? Toni says: You’re absolutely right to ask this question. Every bride wants her hair to be a focal point for all the right reasons. The worst thing on a windy day is having your locks blowing all over the place with the pictures to prove it. At this point many worry that this means they’ll have to wear their hair scraped back with a ton of hairspray to boot, but this isn’t necessarily the case. An expert wedding stylist will still be able to achieve a secure yet soft and flowing up style with a few delicate tendrils framing the face. This look offers an elegant and natural vibe without looking too coiffed, since brides are loving the more relaxed and informal styles right now. THE NEWBIE I don’t normally wear make-up. How will I know what looks, shades and products will suit me for my big day? Zoe says: The best thing you can do is speak to your make-up artist and discuss your concerns during your trial. Send them pictures of yourself both without make-up and with, on an occasion when you’ve worn it, to give them an impression of what you’re comfortable with. I love seeing my clients in make- up they’ve done themselves as it enables me to enhance the look and share those skills. It also means it’s not a complete shock when they look in the mirror! In terms of shades, start with light neutrals and build up the depth until you’re happy. If you want to add a pop of colour, shimmery pinks and lavender are so pretty on the majority of skin tones. If you’re doing your make-up yourself for the big day, I’d still recommend booking a trial with a professional. They’ll be able to find your perfect shade of foundation, as well as identify other suitable products that you’ll be able to buy yourself to use even beyond the wedding.
