Smith , www.bridalbeauty.co.uk Q&A Beauty W I N N I N G WINTER LOOK Can you suggest a showstopping make-up look for my fabulous winter wedding? Danielle says : Winter is all about rich, warm colours, so why not incorporate a beautiful bold lip into your make-up look on your wedding day? I’d recommend a gorgeous warm red, such as diva by MAC. Complement this with a dewy foundation for a healthy glow, and soft eye make- up finished with kohl eyeliner, instead of liquid, for the ultimate showstopping look. LIP SERVICE My lips get dry and cracked in the winter. What’s your advice on the best way to combat this so as not to ruin the look of by lipstick? Becky says: There are lots of lip scrubs and masks on the market. I’d advise getting a few to use every so often, ensuring you’re gently exfoliating dry skin and then putting lots of moisture back into your lips with the mask. Before applying make-up I always apply a thick lip balm, giving it plenty of time to nourish my clients’ lips while I do the rest of the face. This means that when I start applying lipstick, any dry, cracked areas should be nice and soft. When buying lipstick, make sure you look for moisturising formulas to help add hydration. I start with a lip liner all over, which will stay put all day. So, instead of topping up your lipstick when needed, I recommend just using a lip balm to freshen up allowing the liner to take care of the colour. FREE SPIRIT We’re planning an informal boho wedding, how should I wear my make-up to complement this vibe? Alison says: Boho weddings have a soft and romantic feel inspired by nature and the great outdoors. So, if you’ve opted for this theme your make-up should look effortless – it’s all about fresh-faced natural beauty. The look requires minimal foundation, so get started on a good skincare routine several months beforehand to achieve glowing skin. Your complexion should look dewy, so opt for a non-matte foundation. Dark smoky eyes are a classic boho look and eyeshadows in earthy colours are great for achieving this. Smudgy eyeliner can then be intensified by adding a dark eyeshadow over the top. If you prefer a more natural eye make-up, use lighter shades of shadow or bronzer across your lids and leave off the eyeliner. Either way, use a lash curler before applying mascara to really open up your eyes. Instead of blusher, I’d opt for bronzer to give the cheeks a healthy glow and maybe even a touch of highlighter on the top of the cheekbones. Keep lips neutral with a touch of gloss on top. Finally, a spritz of finishing spray will keep your skin looking dewy and your make-up firmly in place as you skip through the meadows!
