Your Sussex Wedding - April/May 2020 (Issue 84)

We rented two neon signs: “happily ever after” and “just married.” The latter sat behind the cake on a copper frame surrounded by foliage. Each table had its own mini-chalkboards displaying its number and the menu. Our floral arrangements featured lots of green foliage, with stunning purple and ivory blooms. The centrepiece of my bouquet was a large single stargazer lily, in memory of those who couldn’t be with us on our special day. I’m very lucky as my uncle has a spectacular vintage Jaguar, which took me to the venue. We started with the roof up, but after seeing the registrar, the top was put down and we finished the journey to the barns in style. David and the bridesmaids arrived in a blue Rolls Royce Dawn provided by a close friend. Our big-day bake included four tiers of delightful semi-naked cake, each flavoured differently. There was a small selection of flowers cascading down the side, and a personalised cake topper finished it off. The centrepieces were simple but effective. Our florist made large wreaths, which we placed in the middle of each table along with some lanterns. REAL WEDDINGS 49 
