Your Sussex Wedding - April/May 2020 (Issue 84)

Georgie and Joe opted for a relaxed rustic vibe for their wedding, with a soft pink, peach and sage green palette Images courtesy of Lloyd Richard Photography G eorgie got the surprise of her life when, after 12 years together, Joe presented her with a beautiful engagement ring in September, 2017. “He’d always said he never wanted to get married, so I had absolutely no idea it was even on the cards,” she tells us. Georgie had booked a table at Purchases in Chichester for her 27th birthday celebrations with a big group of friends, and Joe had been acting strangely all night. When he disappeared into the kitchen to see the head chef after the meal, Georgie expected him to return with a cake or special dessert for her birthday, but what he actually emerged with was a frosted glass plate with “will you marry me?” written on it in chocolate. Georgie remembers, “I was so shocked I couldn’t speak, and all of our friends were gobsmacked as they had no idea what he had planned either.” The venue search was on and from their first visit to Field Place they knew it was the one , having met every requirement on their wish list. Georgie remembers, “When we booked we were shown artists’ impressions of the landscaping scheduled to create its wedding garden, and were sure we wanted to have our ceremony there. Plus, the staff were amazingly welcoming and friendly, and on meeting our wedding co-ordinator, Amanda, we knew we could trust her to organise a fantastic day.” The couple tied the knot on 1st August, 2019.
