Hire a wedding planner and delegate where you can. Learning to let go and let others help is a challenge if you’re like me but it does take some of the pressure off. Also, make sure you carve out some time for self-care, whether it’s yoga, a massage or whatever relaxes you as there’s no denying there’ll be a lot of stress at some points. We knew from the outset that we wanted a live band, as a DJ isn’t really our vibe. We listened to some of Blue Lion Band’s demos and liked their Motown covers and the fact that they could play some party and pop songs to get everyone dancing. We also needed to keep the kids entertained as we have our own crazy toddler, Harper! I found a company called Posh Totz who offered soft play hire and we had this set up in one of the empty rooms. It was the best thing we did and meant the adults could relax. Our venue offered us a food tasting evening so we could choose the best crowd pleasers. We opted for tomato soup, Sussex beef roast and a trio of desserts. They also offered a separate menu for the children, which was great. We wanted something extra as a sweet treat, so we found an ice cream supplier online, Delicious Dreams. They set up outside and offered unlimited ice cream of our choosing with guests able to pick their own toppings. 46
