Your Sussex Wedding - February/March 2024 (Issue 107)

Also as part of our centrepieces we had lyrics from our favourite songs printed on A5 white textured card and placed on small white wooden easels. We had our summer barbecue menu and place names displayed on the same type of card too. The latter featured a sprig of lavender supplied by our florist, held in place by a small wooden peg. Our centrepieces featured bud vases, which my mum collected from various charity shops. These were filled with wild flowers, and accompanied by candles in two shades of pink to complement the bridesmaids dresses. We had a three-tier cake (Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle and carrot cake), with white buttercream, decorated with fresh, edible wild flowers. It was stunning! There was also a beautiful wooden frame holding 10 flower threads, which was placed behind it. Our favours were rhubarb and ginger gin shots with lemonade, my favourite, along with Swizzels’ Love Heart sweets that said ‘just married.’ Our table plan was presented on a rustic ladder with each table detailed on simple white labels on dark-glass wine bottles filled with wild flowers. It was beautiful and got so many compliments. The bridesmaids looked incredible in their mixed pink dresses. They chose these from a wide selection picked out by me. They tried them on, gave their feedback and were then allocated one of their top two. This process was really fun and allowed for everyone to try different styles to find something that suited them as an individual. 44
