Your South Wales Wedding - Mar/Apr 2020 (Issue 72)

Our reception venue, Insole Court, is a beautiful historic house with a great atmosphere. Both Insole Court and the Temple of Peace are charities, so it was wonderful being able to contribute to a worthy cause. It chucked it down all day, but the inside of both venues was so lovely that it didn’t matter. The cake came from Marks and Spencer and was made up of white and milk chocolate. We chose Mario and Princess Peach Amiibo as our cake-toppers. We chose the Temple of Peace for our ceremony. It’s really dramatic, and we got some really beautiful photographs thanks to our photographer, Chris. Matt and I hired a food van which everyone loved. We served poutine, a Canadian food, which is chips, gravy and cheese curds. It was the perfect party food, and everyone agreed that the chips were amazing. We actually went on honeymoon to Vancouver Island and didn’t have poutine as good as the one served at our wedding. For our centrepieces, we chose peace lilies from Amanda French Flowers. The arrangements looked beautiful and were a good size so that our guests could see over them. I wore an Amy Mair dress from Rachel Burgess Bridal Boutique. I really wanted a plain dress and cape as I’m not a fan of lace or fuss. It was comfortable, and the cape blew behind me when I walked, which felt amazing. Rachel was incredible, I’d had so many bad experiences at big bridal stores, but her whole shop was full of beautiful gowns, all of which were made in Wales. 58
