Designed and baked by me, the bride! It was a lemon and elderflower six-inch sponge cake, with white chocolate ganache and lemon and elderflower buttercream. We provided mini cupcakes of the same cake flavours for people who didn’t want a whole slice of cake. At the reception we provided a variety of mini-Welsh cakes by ‘Alice In Welshcake Land’ in six flavour varieties. For the bridal bouquets, buttonholes, corsages, and main room arrangements we had flowers from Wild Meadow Floral. They all followed our Bridgertoninspired theme of pastels; featuring blues, pinks, and soft purples. We had eight centrepieces, one spray for the top table, then flowers placed throughout the breakout spaces in glass milk bottles, as a nod to the background of my father (formerly a milkman) who passed away a year-and-a-half ago. Our stationery was designed by Adaelle Design, based in Carmarthenshire, who also designed our invitations; she also helped with our wedding page and QR codes for guest photos. We didn’t opt for traditional favours for the guests, we decided on providing an illustrator (Foxy Peach Illustrations) to draw portraits of the day guests for them to keep. For the evening guests, we provided a caricature artist to draw funny pictures of guests as keepsakes. After visiting the country park a few times and having attended a wedding fair there, we originally decided on having the ceremony and reception in the Orangery. However, after visiting the Abbey Church and falling in love with the splendour of the place, we knew we had to have the ceremony there. It was the second wedding fair that we attended there that sealed the deal for us. The abbey offered the perfect level of romance and being so close to the reception area, meant that we could do it all in one place! 32
