COME RAIN OR SHINE What if my summer wedding is ruined by rain? Michael Lundbeck of One Vision Photography & Videography says: Here in South Wales, we all know the weather can be a bit unpredictable – even in the middle of summer! We always plan and adapt to ensure the weather never dampens your special day. We scout your venue in advance and create a plan B, identifying sheltered spots or beautiful indoor locations. If you’re happy to embrace the rain, we can capture some truly magical moments with umbrellas, reflections, and soft romantic lighting. Some of our most memorable images have come from rainy weddings! One standout moment was a summer wedding at a countryside venue near the Brecon Beacons; just before the couple’s portraits, the heavens opened – but with a couple of clear umbrellas and a fun, adventurous spirit, we created some stunning shots in the rain that they now absolutely adore. The laughter, the emotion, and even the raindrops made it unforgettable. Rain can bring its own beauty. The key is to be flexible, stay positive, and trust your photographer to capture the joy, whatever the weather. Golden Grove Retreat says: After the excitement of the big day, self-care can often take a backseat. Here at Golden Grove, we encourage couples to embrace gentle routines that restore balance. Activities like yoga, mindful breathing, and time spent outdoors can ease the post-wedding lull. A short stay in our tranquil barn conversion, perhaps with a visit to our sauna or a soothing sound bath, offers the perfect reset. A weekend spa break can do a lot to rebuild oneself after a period of potential high-stress or pressure. But it’s all about taking these mindfulness techniques out of the yoga retreat and into your everyday life. Practising yoga at home, taking time to look after yourself and reconnecting with nature, are all things you an easily implement to prolong your newlywed bliss. How can I add something special to my big day? Sophie of Events by Sophie B says: More than anything, your wedding should reflect who you are as a couple; your friends will naturally have different traditions, likes, and ideas that you won’t align with. Are you and your fiancé huge foodies? If so, tasty food is your goal, a barbecue firepit is a great conversation starter or have guests bring their favourite desserts in lieu of presents to create a beautiful dessert table. What was your love story; did you meet over cocktails? Did your friends set you up on a blind date? Or at a bar watching a country band? Set up a signature cocktail section, organise a line dance, or have your guests sit next to a stranger and provide conversation starters; board games, ‘pimp my prosecco’ stands, novel trading stations are all ideas too! A wedding doesn’t just have to be formulaic with your ceremony, drinks, dinner, and dancing. One of my favourite couples met at a festival, so we decided a great way to celebrate this was by moving their band outside and having their first dance played out on the terrace. Where their guests danced the night away under the stars – exactly how they met! People value experiences over tangible things, it’s the experiences you provide that will give your guests something to talk about.
