Now that you’ve brought the glow from within out, and you’ve got a handle on your skincare, the next most important thing is your hair. Whether it’s getting the right style for the day or knowing how to look after it, there’s a lot to unpack. To help you get wedding-day ready, we’ve outlined some of the golden rules for haircare. First and foremost, your hair is mostly made up of protein, so you need to make sure that you are getting a well-balanced diet that includes fish, meat, eggs and beans. These are easy to incorporate and with continued consumption, will contribute to healthy hair growth. You also want to make sure you get plenty of vitamin C and E, both of which help with collagen production. IT ALL STARTS IN THE SHOWER Before you get in the shower, it’s really important that you brush your hair through first. Start at the ends and work your way up to your scalp. Ensuring your hair is tangle free before you shower will mean a better clean, and less breakage post-wash. Also, only use a small amount of conditioner. You don’t need as much as you think you do; much like fabric conditioner, less is more! If you’re a frequent dry shampoo user (who isn’t?) then you’ll need to make sure your scalp gets a touch of conditioner – not too much and don’t leave it on for more than a minute. Finally, don’t ignore the magic of hair masks. Just like the ones you get for your face; you can buy hair masks that tackle specific concerns. Be it a detox mask, hydrating, or volumising these are fantastic things to have in your hair repertoire – and make the perfect edition to your pamper night when you take some much-needed me time. LOOKING AFTER YOUR LOCKS It’s common knowledge that you need to get regular haircuts. It’s the same with the dentist, we all know we need regular checkups, but who actually has the time for that? But when it comes to getting your hair weddingready, you need to get your hair chopped every eight to ten weeks. It doesn’t have to be a lot at a time – just enough to trim off any split ends that might have formed. We also recommend sleeping on a silk pillowcase as this reduces friction on your hair (thus, reducing split ends) and it’s also great for your skin. Much like our skin, you need to protect your hair from UV rays. Keep an eye out for products that have UV protection – these are typically found within heat protectant sprays but shop around and find one that works for your hair type. On the topic of heat protection, you need to be using it! It’s an easy step to forget, but frequent neglection of heat protecting spray can leave you with long-lasting damage. Finally, a healthy scalp means healthy hair; if you notice that your scalp is dry or irritated, then you need to rethink the products you’re using. FINDING THE RIGHT HAIR STYLE FOR YOU Once you’ve mastered looking after your hair, you then need to turn your attention to finding the right hairstyle for your wedding day. For this we’ve got expert advice from Jessie, who runs Hair and Makeup by Jessie. We asked her what wedding hair trends she thought would be big for 2025 so, hopefully, our lovely readers could draw some inspiration from it. “I’d say the most popular hairstyle in 2025 will be anything romantic. Whether that be an elegant bun, a soft bun or a relaxed, natural wave. All of these styles seem to be taking the wedding world by storm,” shares Jessie. If you’re planning a summer wedding, then it may be worth opting for the soft bun to keep your hair off your neck. The last thing you want on your special day is frizzy hair sticking to you because it’s reacted to the humidity! Alternatively, for those going for a spring/autum wedding, a romantic wave would suit nicely and could even keep the chill off your neck and shoulders if it’s long enough. https://www.marywthomas.com https://www.marywthomas.com FLOWERS 67 LOOKING YOUR BEST
