Q&A Fashion & Beauty Local experts give top tips for your wedding day ANNA BENNETT MAKEUP Q: My wedding is in the summer, and I’m worried about my make-up ‘melting’ off – what do you recommend? There are few things to consider in relation to your wedding day makeup, especially when you expect hot weather. Invest some time into getting to know your skin needs and recognising its type for example: do you have oily skin? Or have you been suffering with dry patches? Then give it some TLC, starting at least a few months before the big day. All products, especially make-up, perform and look their best on a well-balanced complexion. Consider products specifically designed to perform well in heat and that claim to be long-lasting. This might require some research to find suitable options for your skin, and the bridal look you are opting for. Waterproof mascara, finishing powder and setting spray are a must, but it might be worth considering blotting papers and a lip tint too. When it comes to application, less is more for summer wedding day make-up – this doesn’t mean losing out on a glam look! Choose layering, and blending long-lasting products suitable for your skin type, to ensure coverage and intensity of pigmentation. A well-prepped, blended base that’s been set stands a good chance against the heat. Finally, there are bridal MUAs with bags of experience and pro-tricks ready to assist. Make-up trials are a great way to test the look and for the MUA to get to know your skin. @a.n.n.a_hmua HAIR AND MAKE-UP BY JESSIE Q: What is the most popular wedding make-up look for 2025? The most popular make-up look I’d say is a natural one, this is something that I pride myself on, enhancing the bride’s natural beauty and being the best version of themselves on their special day! It’s a make-up look that lots of people ask for nowadays, as they don’t want to feel weighed down by lots of products. However, it takes skill from the make-up artist to make the look feel like something special without being too much of a change. Plus, making it last all day long is an artform. @hairandmakeupbyjessie www.marywthomas.com 59 FASHION Q&A
