CAKES 41 Let’s look back at the cake trends of 2024 and check out what’s on the horizon in 2025 We all love a bit of cake, especially when it’s a well-selected flavour! I personally steer away from fruit cake and more towards carrot or chocolate, however, you may want lemon drizzle or red velvet for your big-day bake! Regardless of preference, we eat with our eyes first, so it’s got to have the design wow-factor as the pièce de résistance at your wedding reception! I’ve reached out to some local cake makers to get their feedback on what trends we’re leaving in 2024 and what delicious looking bakes can we expect to see in 2025. Bake it till you make it BRYN AWEL CREATIVE CAKES We have seen a significant reduction in people asking for naked cakes – whilst those cakes offer a lot of natural beauty, they’ve had their moment and it’s time for them to retire. This trend has been replaced with the Lambeth style – a trend we can see dominating 2025 and leading headfirst into 2026. www.brynawelcreativecakes.co.uk 01443 435 241 @brynawelcakes CLAIRE LOUISE CAKE STUDIO Trends that I believe are being left in 2024 are semi-naked or naked cakes, and the cake drip effect. These are being replaced with polished buttercream and fondant finishes. The minimalist look is giving way to bold textures and statement designs, while classic white-on-white cakes are being swapped for colourful, metallic, or even darker black tones. Traditional sugar flowers are being replaced by edible flowers and abstract floral designs, and cupcake towers are losing popularity in favour for statement wedding cakes. Additionally, super-tall multi-tiered cakes are being traded for impactful designs, with double-barrel tiers for height. www.clairelouisecakestudio.com 07701 094 954 @claire_louise_cake_studio
