Emma recalls, “They played a wide variety of music and were great with our guests. They also matched the party lights to our colour scheme of green and white!”. Keeping on the theme of music, Emma and James also included a Welsh male voice choir for their special day. Emma goes on to add, “They had a classic mixed with contemporary repertoire, and they mesmerised our guests with their act. They performed at the end of the wedding breakfast, before the evening got started, and they were phenomenal. The acoustics in the room were fabulous and enhanced their set”. While the wedding breakfast was underway, the couple arranged for a caricaturist to go round to each table. Emma says, “Charlie was great fun, and you could hear our guests laughing and enjoying his drawings – not to mention his brilliant sense of humour”. “The whole day was magic! It rained biblically but it didn’t matter. It was simply a brilliant day from start to finish.” – Emma MEMORABLE MOMENTS For Emma, elements of the day that really stood out to her were seeing her dad as she walked down the stairs, seeing James at the end of the aisle and the first dance. For James, it was the epic choir, seeing the ceremony room set up the night before, and the wedding speeches. For both, they enjoyed how all their guests really enjoyed themselves; with 40 guests for the day, they were able to lean in the intimate feeling of the day and make some special memories with loved ones. Other honourable mentions go to Barney, the black lab, who on the day wore a ‘Best Dog’ printed bandana provided by the Dogs Trust. They also used baby pictures of the couple to denote bride and groom seating for the ceremony. Emma adds, “This was an unusual and humorous way of indicating who should sit where”. TOP TIPS! To beat the wedding nerves, Emma and James suggest taking the pressure off for the day to be a performance; you may have a lot of family and friends around you who need different levels of attention, but the day is all about the love you and your partner share. Emma goes on to suggest, “Before buying anything, we thought about what we would do with the items after, as both of us hate waste. For example, we hired the top table centre but the other table centres we bought – these were later divided up and gifted to our family as a memento”. “Don’t feel obligated to invite people because you think you have to. Invite those who you truly want there! An intimate wedding of 40 can be made to feel like a massive party with the right venue and suppliers.” – Emma Finally, don’t feel pressured to ask for presents if you can’t think of anything you really want or need. Emma and James asked for donations to their chosen charities via JustGiving, Marie Curie and Dogs Trust were their selected charities and was a beautiful way to spread the love! 27 REAL WEDDINGS
