Julie and Enzo’s romance can be defined as love at first sight. Julie first noticed Enzo when she saw him with his daughter on the way to a play date. She recalls, “I used every excuse to message and chat. Eventually Enzo asked me out for our first date, and it all went from strength to strength”. Their romance blossomed and even through Covid, their connection continued to grow. Julie couldn’t get over how gentlemanly Enzo is and even remembers the first time he opened her car door for her. For Enzo, “It was Julie’s amazing blue eyes, her smile and gentle/loving nature. I always say to Julie, although its cliché, I feel like I am a better person when we are together, and every day is a new adventure”. When it came to popping the question, Enzo spared no romance! The couple were away on a break in London, and the view out of their hotel window at the Horse Guards Hotel just so happened to be the London Eye. Julie was lost in a gaze, looking at the view, and as Big Ben chimed for 9am, Enzo got on one knee and asked Julie to spend forever with him. She, of course, said yes! The date was set for 27th July 2024 at Didsbury House Hotel. Here we find out more about their big day... SETTING THE SCENE Julie and Enzo got married at All Saints Church, a church that Julie attended as a child and even now as an adult, so it was a cherished location. Julie adds, “Myself and Enzo have both grown up in the Catholic faith and it meant a lot to us both to be married in the church”. She goes onto describe the church as having the perfect path leading to it, ideal for the all-important confetti throw as newlyweds. The reception was held at Didsbury House Hotel, as it captured their imagination with the grand staircase, the stunning rooms and the quirky layout. The design of the venue also meant that the couple could incorporate inside and outside celebrations to their special day. When it came to adding personal flair, Julie and Enzo didn’t hold back! For the wedding breakfast, the favours were iced cookies with their initials embellished on the top, finished with gold bows fitting the wedding theme. Julie adds, “as the guests left in the evening, we also wanted to give them a memento of the day. These were a small box of four Benona chocolates, which were handcrafted and highly detailed! They had the silhouette of a bride and groom; hand-painted on the sides of two of the chocolates. The other two chocolates featured unique designs which complemented our wedding theme.” She also details, “on the chocolate box, we were able to add our own wedding logo, which really finished off the whole look of the wedding favours.” The table plan was a classic wooden easel which fit the vibe of the wedding and this was finished with draped flowers to add that whimsical romance seen througout. For centrepieces, Julie and Enzo left no stone unturned and had carefully designed flower arrangements. They opted for fuller blooms to give the wow-factor and paired these beautiful bunches with plenty of candles. Julie works at a garden centre, so getting the flowers right was vital! She knows what’s good and what would be fitting for their romantic day. The flowers they opted for were off-white roses, blue thistle, seasonal flowers and eucalyptus. The bride’s bouquet was hand-tied with other foliage to complete the look. “My maid-of-honour and bridesmaids had identical bouquets, which were a slightly smaller version to mine. This was quite funny on the day, as my dad ended up holding both mine and my maid-of-honour’s bouquets and couldn’t remember which was which!” – Julie For the groom’s party, they all had buttonholes featuring off-white roses and foliage, but to have Enzo stand out, he had this combo with the addition of blue thistle. This tied in nicely with their ‘best woman’ (one of Julie and Enzo’s daughters), who had designed a corsage featuring the wedding flowers. When it came to decorating the grand staircase, Julie had a very clear vision. This would be the wedding photo-op to beat them all! The sight of their decorated staircase took their guests’ breath away and was talked about for a long time after the wedding had passed. Julie wanted a natural flower display that didn’t come off as neat – as we all know, there are no straight lines in nature! The collection of flowers 32
