Your North West Wedding- April/May 2021 (Issue 67)

R ebecca and Justin were instantly attracted to each other. “I loved his handsome looks and easy-going ways,” says Rebecca. “He proposed to me after making me climb Mount Snowdon in the rain! Apparently, he had planned to propose at the top, but the awful weather meant he had to wait until we got to the bottom. I was soaked through, and my hands were so cold he could barely get the ring on! It was perfect though, and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. It was a total surprise and one of the most wonderful weekends of my life.” SETTING THE SCENE “We saw lots of venues, but after viewing Silverholme Manor and its impressive views across Windermere, nothing else compared,” shares the bride. “We’ve always loved the Lake District and have had many wonderful breaks there. We wanted somewhere that was beautiful and elegant but still relaxed and informal. We could really make the space our own, and the day after our wedding, we hosted a barbecue for all our friends and family.” The happy couple wanted to incorporate tropical touches into their décor. “After having travelled to South America, we loved the Latin style and decided to incorporate influences into our big day,” explains Rebecca. “We had four long tables where guests could chat easily, that we decorated with gold, pink and pastel candles. Each table was named after our favourite places, including Rio, Lima, Valparaíso and Mompox.” Brackens of Bowness provided the beautiful flowers. “We had a stunning hanging installation in the marquee with tropical, rich green foliage and ferns,” says the bride. “On each table, we had a range of blooms, including orchids and pink flamingo calla lilies.” “We had a dessert table rather than a cake, filled with home-made treats and gorgeous pastries from my friend’s business, Popty Conwy Bakery,” shares Rebecca. “For our catering, we had sharing plates of Harissa chicken kebabs, aubergine, spinach and feta tart and Brazillian sausages with sides including salads and roasted potatoes from Karen Rhodes Weddings & Events. In the evening, guests were treated to fish and chips from the amazing The Hip Hop Chip Shop.” DRESSED TO IMPRESS “It took me a very long time to find a dress that I loved, much to the pain of my best friend and family who had to accompany me,” explains Rebecca. “The fact I was pregnant with a growing bump added to the pressure and meant I couldn’t decide between a big dress and a fitted one. In the end, I selected a beautiful strapless fishtail dress by Pronovias called Epico and a gorgeous blush gown by Monique Lhuillier for the evening.” Justin and his best man opted for navy suits with yellow ties and grey waistcoats. “I knew I wanted my four bridesmaids to wear different styles but still look similar,” recalls the bride. “I chose a gorgeous design from Whistles, and each of the girls wore a different version.” REAL WEDDINGS 27
