The property first opened as The Refuge Assurance Company Headquarters, and the grand clock tower at the centre of its striking Victorian architecture is an unmistakable landmark on Manchester’s skyline. The venue combines historic grandeur with quirky details and modern swagger. Oak panelling, dramatic chandeliers and high ceilings set the tone for this property and create a grand backdrop for photographs. There are also 270 new loft-style bedrooms and suites and a magnificent triple-height lobby for guests to explore. CELEBRATE IN STYLE The recently refurbished Ballroom has been lovingly restored to the ornate design. This wonderful space was previously the Dining Hall of Refuge employees, where men and women had to sit separately, but today it can host up to 650 guests for the ceremony and 750 for a standing reception. Couples can hire an external catering company if they wish and have exclusive use of the adjacent ballroom kitchen.
