Your North East Wedding - March/April 2024 (Issue 61)

SWEET TREATS We’d love to have a luxurious cake on our big day, but we’re worried about the price tag. Do you have any ideas for keeping the cost down? When planning your wedding cake, set yourself a budget, do some research and look for a designer who makes the style of cake that you love. Most suppliers will have a starting price for a blank canvas cake on their website to give you an indication of how much it will cost. Be open with your designer and they will help you design within your budget. We all understand that what may be someone else’s budget may not be your budget, so don’t be afraid to ask. Cakes are priced based on work; the more hours it takes to make, the more it will cost. Less can be more. For example, an elegant cake with a clean, sharp edge and a beautiful bow can be just as stunning as a cake with lots of sugar work. If you have an idea for a cake that is elaborate, speak to your designer so they can work with you to create a similar look. Communication is so important. Another cost to consider when planning your wedding cake is delivery and set-up. A local cake maker is likely to save you money with less travel time and mileage. Don’t be tempted to save money by booking someone who is not registered, trained and insured, as it may lead to disappointment. Social media is a great source of information and joining wedding planning groups is really helpful in getting some ideas and opinions from people who either work in the industry or have recently been married themselves. There are also some great regional groups and pages asking local residents for suggestions. Decide on guest numbers pretty early on so you can filter your search by capacity. Some venues have strict minimum numbers, so if you can’t meet them, you’ll end up paying over the odds and potentially being disappointed. Similarly, some venues (like ours) have smaller capacities, so again, it’s good to have an idea in your head before you find your dream venue and find out it’s not suitable. Bridal magazines are a lovely way to get some inspiration, and what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than flicking through all the glossy images? The team at Blackton Grange www.blacktongrange.co.uk SEASONAL ROMANCE How can we incorporate the spring season into our wedding photographs? Spring weddings are a dream for photographers, as there are so many ways to capture the beauty of the season in your images. Consider incorporating soft pastel hues or vibrant floral patterns into your attire or décor. We can enhance those tones in our editing process to really make them pop in your photos. You could also take advantage of the blooming flowers by having your portraits taken in a picturesque garden or orchard, surrounded by blossoms. Spring weddings are incredibly romantic, so why not schedule your photo session during the golden hour, when the soft, warm light of the sunset bathes everything in a romantic glow? With a bit of creativity and planning, we can create stunning images that showcase the magic of spring on your special day. Fyzal and Dawn www.fyzal.com www.adamstealslight.co.uk www.fyzal.com 60
