Your North East Wedding - March/April 2021 (Issue 43)

BIG-DAY BEAUTIFUL I’m going to get really emotional on my wedding day, how can I stop my make-up from smudging? There are some incredible waterproof and transfer-resistant products out there to ensure your make-up will stay in place all day. For foundation, I highly recommend the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation for a gorgeous lit-from-within glow. Some other great options are Delilah Alibi foundations and MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation. When it comes to eye make-up, it goes without saying that waterproof mascara is a must. If you’re going for false lashes, I recommend individuals lashes rather than strips as no one wants the corner of the lashline lifting on their wedding day. You need Delilah Cosmetics Gel Line if you’re looking for some bulletproof eyeliner; it’s a firm staple in my bridal kit. Finish off the look with a mist of setting spray to lock everything in place. Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray is not only incredible at making sure everything stays in place, but it also looks beautiful on your dressing table – what’s not to love! It’s important to keep an open mind when looking for a wedding dress; our stylists will start by getting to know all about you, the special day and any desired styles before pulling together the perfect gowns to try on at our studio. Even though you may have particular styles in mind, we will often show you a wildcard that we think would be perfect for you – nine times out of 10 this will end up being your dream dress. It’s essential to trust the stylists, our team has had more than 10 years’ experience and we know our collections inside out – put your faith in us and be ready to fall in love! Choosing your flowers is an exciting experience, but it’s not as simple as picking your favourite flowers and asking them to match the colour scheme. During a consultation, show what the bridesmaids’ dresses will look like and a photograph of your wedding dress to help the florist get an idea of the look and style you’re after. Be specific about what you like, do you want pink roses or are you just after something pink? Think about the style because pastel flowers are ultra-feminine, vibrant shades can have a more modern feel and soft greens paired with white florals can create a timeless look. It’s important to keep in mind the venue; blooms can be kept to a minimum if you’re saying ‘I do’ in a park or a gorgeous garden. Opt for arrangements that look like they belong at the venue, clusters of wild flowers may look out of place in a formal ballroom the same way all- white orchids wouldn’t look right in a rustic setting. Keep in mind your table shape, which can help influence the shape and style of the centrepieces.
