Your North East Wedding - March/April 2021 (Issue 43)

39 REAL WEDDINGS A part that stood out on the day was walking down the aisle with my mum. I remember her telling me to slow down but I was so excited to get to Tom who was nervously gazing back at me.  We decided on a simple three-tiered cake with ivory-coloured icing and a wooden Mr and Mrs topper – my florist also supplied loose flowers to decorate it with. My dress was called Amore by Anna Sorrano; I added an Amixi Alexandra beaded top and matching veil all in an ivory hue. I felt the most confident I have ever felt in my life, the dress, hair and make-up was totally me! Tom was a nervous wreck until the evening reception where he could have a few pints to calm his nerves. Tom was in charge of suits and chose a dark, olive-green pinstripe suit from Slater Menswear and accessorised all the boys with burgundy ties and hankerchiefs, brown shoes and pocket watches. When we went outside with our photographer Darren for our couple portraits my veil blew off; he managed to snap several photographs of Tom in full sprint wrestling the wind – I was impressed Tom managed to catch it! I originally wanted bright red gowns for the bridesmaid dresses but a berry-red suited the venue much better. The girls tried on different styles and ended up picking the same which was a pleasant surprise!
