Your North East Wedding - January/February 2021 (Issue 42)

This year will be busy for weddings due to couples having to postpone their weddings last year. We’re predicting nearlyweds will put their personality and quirkiness into the day to make it creative and special. Brides who have had to postpone want to make their day extra special. Our brides are adding personal touches to their wedding outfits by adding colour to their dresses with hand-painted designs, embroidery, a personal message hidden or personalised shoes that reflect their quirky personality. Silhouette-enhancing corsets paired with voluminous skirts and sleeves will be popular, and it’s all about making the most of your wedding outfit by adding accessories to get more than one look. It seems to be that last year ended up being the year where anything goes and this is set to continue for 2021. Wedding trends for the year ahead have in some ways been influenced by lockdown and wedding dresses are no exception. Some brides will want to go all out, this will include gowns that create a bit of drama such as a gorgeous princess-style ballgown and statement trains. Many will go big by finding an absolute showstopper of a gown to make them feel amazing and something that will wow their guests. It’s an opportunity to create theatre and for our brides to truly take centre stage on their big day. Others have decided to proceed with micro weddings, potentially with a big party on their first anniversary perhaps. There will definitely be a trend for much smaller, more intimate weddings and that will very likely call for a much more classic and understated gown. The rise of the tea-length dress is sure to continue and could be purchased for the micro wedding, allowing brides initially expecting to marry in 2020 to keep their main gown for the bigger party later down the line. When choosing your dress, make yourself happy as it’s your big day. However the day will look, you will still want to feel and look amazing for your special day.
