Your North East Wedding - January/February 2021 (Issue 42)

We both agreed that Le Petit Château was minimalistic, rustic and just where we wanted to get married. The grounds were stunning and we loved that the ceremony and reception can be at the same venue. All the flowers including the bouquets, buttonholes, fireplace, registrar table settings and the cake stand was handmade by my mother. This all matched the colour scheme and rustic-theme. The centrepieces were wisteria trees fr om The Whole Sch-bang Event Decor to go with the t wo large blossom trees at either side of the top table – all trees had little baubles with fake candles inside. We had two favours; one was m ini caricature pictures created b y Barrie James Art at the beginning of 2 020 for all 60 guests. Unfortuna tely, many of our guests couldn’t attended d ue to COVID-19, but we sent th em in the post with mini ‘Wish you were h ere’ cards. The second favour w as a little rustic box with pink chocolate h earts. My brother is a chef in the army and created our three-tiered cake with flavours including chocolate orange, banoffee and lemon with poppy seed. This had three robins on to represent the lost family members, to go with the saying ‘Robins appear whenever a loved one is near’. Our table plan was on a wooden board with twine and mini-pegs. 30
