Your North East Wedding - January/February 2021 (Issue 42)

24 something the complete opposite to what she envisioned. She says, “I originally didn’t want a fitted dress or anything with lace on it, but I instantly fell in love with the Laura dress by Enzoani as soon as I tried it on – no one was expecting me to wear a dress like that.” She accessorised the look with a tiara, veil and blush and white coloured sandal heels. The jewellery was kept minimal with a bracelet given to her by her mother, and sapphire earrings as the something blue and something borrowed from her nan. Rebecca comments, “I felt emotional when I saw myself on the day, everything just felt right. Before I walked down the aisle, I felt so nervous to the point where I thought I was going to pass out!” The groom wore a navy tweed suit with a blush- coloured textured tie, waistcoats and dark brown shoes. He had an orchid buttonhole instead of hydrangea like the groomsmen to stand out. The bridesmaids wore made-to-measure pink/rose gold multiway dresses, which fitted perfectly with the colour scheme and they all carried hydrangea bouquets. TIME TO CELEBRATE The pair had a magician after the wedding breakfast to keep guests entertained. Paul Lytton The North East Magician was a massive hit with guests, Rebecca adds, “His work is immaculate and had all of the guests crowded around participating and getting involved in the magic.” There was also a DJ, two casino tables and a photo booth during the evening. “Our DJ sent me a link for our guests to pick songs for the night to add a personal touch. His set-up was smart, it’s so modern and everyone commented on how amazing it looked and how professional he was,” Rebecca adds. MEMORABLE MOMENTS Rebecca and Reece both felt overwhelmed on the day, although they felt so happy after the nervous vanished. A moment that stood out to Reece was seeing his beautiful bride-to-be walk down the aisle. Rebecca says, “The ceremony was our favourite part; a funny moment was when we exchanged rings. I went to put Reece’s ring on and it wouldn’t fit – I think he was so nervous and sweating his finger had swelled up, but we eventually got it on!” Other memorable moments included the best man Matthew’s unexpected and funny speech that filled the room with laughter. The bride continues, “Another great moment was our pageboy Ollie dancing on his own on the dancefloor to kick off the night – there are some great pictures of him showing off his moves!” HONEYMOON The pair jetted off for a multicentre trip to Thailand; their first destination was seven nights in Khao Lak followed by Phuket for another week. Rebecca says, “Reece is very active and gets bored quite easily, so the typical Maldives honeymoon wasn’t for him. We planned it all ourselves so this way we got to relax for the first part and then be more active for the next part of the trip. The whole experience was amazing and we did so much including bathing elephants, snorkelling, trying amazing food and spending time on the most tranquil beaches while watching the sunset every night.”
