Your North East Wedding - January/February 2021 (Issue 42)

THE PERFECT DAY Langley Castle Hotel is now offering bubble domes to allow for a safe environment to enjoy a wonderful time with loved ones in the grounds with the castle as your backdrop. These domes have heating and lighting and are perfect for the special day or wedding breakfast. If brides are looking for somewhere to hold a hen do, look no further as what could be better than an afternoon tea, relaxation time or just having fun over a bottle of Prosecco – the possibilities are endless? With COVID-19 affecting many couples, the venue has made its tier system to correspond with the government guidelines; in the castle’s Tier One, the team can only have a ceremony with a maximum of 15 guests, Tier Two allows a ceremony can take place (15 people) and the pair will be given champagne hamper to celebrate back at home, Tier Three is only achievable if restrictions allow it. In this section, the ceremony will be able to take place, a takeaway champagne hamper will be given and an overnight stay is offered which includes dinner, bed and breakfast. Langley’s Margaret Livingstone Evans says, “I couldn’t see couples have their marriage dreams ripped up again, so I spoke to the registrars to see what could be done, rather than what could not. This is not about Langley making money, as we will earn virtually nothing from this. What it is about is going the extra mile for people who are in love and want to be together in this most difficult year.” To top things off, the venue has won two Northern Marketing Awards for 2020 including Best PR Campaign and Best Tourism & Leisure Campaign. To achieve this, the venue has changed its layout to make sure that everyone can feel safe when the big day comes around. Seating booths have been introduced so that people can sit within their bubble without worrying about others getting too close. The latest technology has been introduced and there’s now an app that allows guests to order and pay for drinks from the comfort of their table – no more queueing at the bar! Micro weddings are a big thing at The Barn on The Bay, even before any regulations took place. This has made it easier for the team to adapted ready for this winter by dividing the area into smaller cosy spaces that can be used at different times throughout the day. At times like this, working as a team becomes more important than ever. With this in mind, the venue recently launched The Winter Lovers Club, a collaboration between a small group of hand-picked local suppliers that celebrate two things: the love of two people and the beauty of winter. The enchanting wedding package is perfect for winter-loving couples who are seeking an intimate celebration without all of the fuss and flamboyance of a larger affair. This exciting opportunity starts from December 2020 with a wedding party for 15 people in a choice of intimate spaces; couples could be saying their vows within 30 days if given enough notice.
