The nerves kicked in just before the ceremony, but I only felt excitement and happiness as soon as I saw all of the friendly faces turn and look. Of course, our dog was involved in the wedding party! He wore a tweed bow tie and was first to head down the aisle. The speeches were great, the best man was in his element telling lots of embarrassing stories about Glen, and everyone loved listening to the tales. Craig, the master of ceremonies at Newton Hall was amazing; he not only reassured us along the way but kept everything on track and was so experienced. We had a DJ for the evening reception, which was recommended by the venue, and we asked guests in advance for their song requests to ensure the dancefloor was never empty. Our top tip would be to budget and keep on top of everything! The excel sheet kept us on track with how much we were spending, it’s so tempting to go over budget, but this kept us in control. A great idea is to set up a hashtag for the day so family and friends’ pictures can all be found in one place. Glen was excited that everyone was together, and people had travelled to be part of our special day. The ceremony itself was very informal and precisely what we wanted – everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, which is a big bonus!
