Your North East Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 40)

A five-course meal was given to our loved ones as well as mini-fish and chips, burgers, and much more delicious food in the evening. We picked The Parlour at Blagdon for our wedding venue as it’s where Jeff proposed to me, it’s a beautiful setting and has a vintage look that I love We had burners throughout the venue, candles, wheelbarrows filled with flowers, lanterns and blankets for the guests. To match our vintage-theme, we had a two-tiered cake that included log slices and gypsophila, as well as cupcakes. We opted for cream roses and gypsophila for the flowers. We wanted our wedding to be intimate, personal and romantic! Our centrepieces consisted of log slices and a vintage glass bottle with gypsophila flowers, large birdcages filled with candles and wax melt burners. P aula and Jeff’s adventure first started when they met at work and started to get to know each other more. Paula says: “We would chat for hours until Jeff asked me on a date, but I said no at first. He was persistent and asked again a few weeks later – at which point I said ‘yes’– lucky man!” It soon became apparent that they had a strong connection with a lot in common. Their time together was full of chatting, laughing and dancing. She adds: “We realised we were soul mates, both saying we had never felt love like this before.” During a lovely meal, Jeff asked Paula to marry him at a beautiful little place called The Parlour at Blagdon. She comments: “He had contacted the premises and arranged for them to set this all up; a candlelit moment, tea lights outside, Christmas tree, champagne, flowers, the lot!” She adds: “We followed the lights into a lovely little garden house with music playing our favourite song, and it was in there that he proposed.” After celebrating with champagne, they headed off to Horton Grange Country House for dinner and stayed the night – a perfect end to the perfect night! Here Paula shares details about their special day… REAL WEDDINGS 27 
