DUNS CASTLE 01361 883 211 | www.dunscastle.co.uk Duns Castle is a 700-year-old venue full of charm and character, which offers couples a stunning space for ceremonies and receptions. The first sight of the premises is unforgettable, standing high and proud, it draws couples nearer with its intriguing stone gargoyles, turrets and fine Gothic windows. The bell-tower, sundial, arches and mellow stone walls make a perfect backdrop to wedding photos, and lovebirds can light up the exterior with their choice of atmospheric colour. Guests are blown away by the main hallway upon entering with its spectacular pendant hung ceiling and historic portraits. Surrounded by beautiful and mature parkland full of wildlife, couples can take a romantic walk to see ancient yews, an extensive lake and wonderful trees that all look perfect no matter the season. Fully licensed for ceremonies, most of the venue’s weddings take place in the grand Drawing Room. With room for 60 people, this space features a fireplace, amazing views and a large mirror imported in 1796. After the vows, the room gets transformed back into the cosy sitting room. The building is everything a castle should be; Gothic, ornate, beautiful, full of original antiques yet warm and comfortable. The main floor has reception rooms that flow into each other with the all-important bar in the middle! Bedrooms are located on the second and tower floor with a mezzanine level available for those who do not want to climb so high. This historic venue offers couples an administrator’s planning skills in drawing the whole stay together. NEWCASTLE CASTLE Located in the heart of the city centre, Newcastle Castle offers up a quiet and picturesque setting for any special day. Dating back to 1080, it’s where the story of the city began; the venue has been graced by kings and nobles while steering the course of history in the North East.  Two buildings can be found here; The Black Gate is a Medieval gatehouse while the Castle Keep is a historic stone building – both are eye-catching landmarks within Newcastle that offer some of the most stunning views across the City and Tyne Valley. Situated in the gatehouse, The Harbottle Suite is a fully equipped room licensed for civil ceremonies. Alternatively opt for the 43ft high majestic and atmospheric Great Hall on the second floor of the Castle Keep, which can host up to 80 guests and is also the perfect location for the evening reception. The imposing fortress has many distinguishing features and is truly a one-of-a-kind building. The roof offers a beautiful vantage point of the city and beyond and is a breathtaking way to share a moment looking out over Newcastle. HISTORIC VENUES 21
