Your North East Wedding - July/August 2020 (Issue 39)

68 LOOKING YOUR BEST I have large pores on my face that I want to minimise and make sure my make-up doesn’t sink into them. How can I achieve this?  I’d recommend a silicone-based primer before your foundation, there are lots of high street brands that have designed their primers for larger pores. I love NARS Pore & Shine Control Primer. It’s super easy to use and combats the issues you get with larger pores, not to mention it lasts for ages! I’d also recommend a regular skincare regime; this will help your skin look its best with or without make-up.  Cheryl Griffiths | Cheryl Griffiths Makeup Artist | www.facebook.com/Cheryl.makeup.beauty Our experts give their advice to help you look your big-day best Fashion and beauty Q&A TRANSFORM YOUR SKIN I have dehydrated skin, and I’m worried my make-up will stick to the dry patches. How can I get around this? For a flawless foundation base, skin preparation is key. A long and short term rehydrating skincare regime will make sure your make-up looks fabulous all day. My bridal make-up trials are around six weeks before the wedding date, and I always do a skin analysis for my brides-to-be to make recommendations for changes in those weeks. For those with dry skin issues, I’d make sure the cleanser being used isn’t too harsh (avoid wipes) and followed up by a good moisturiser, which needn’t cost the world. A night cream containing AHA’s is also so essential and speeds up skin cell renewal. Then once or twice a week, use a mild facial exfoliator. On the big day, your make-up artist should spritz dry areas of your skin before moisturising, which helps to lock in extra moisture. A hydrating primer should then be used – steer clear of any mattifying products which will make the problem worse. There are lots of foundations available for dryer skins; my personal favourites are NARS Sheer Glow and MAX Studio Face and Body Foundation. Finally, only use setting powder on areas such as your t-zone and avoid dry areas. Then go and enjoy your day, with your luminous, juicy skin! What would you suggest? For brides who want to go for the boho look, I’d suggest looking for a gown that’s whimsical and romantic, with soft lines and delicate detailing. Bohemian wedding gowns look effortlessly beautiful, and graphic lace tends to be a popular style to give you that one of a kind trend-worthy gown. I think the most important thing is to find a boho-style dress with a shape that suits you best and makes you feel confident. To finish off the perfect look, go for natural colours and bold but beautiful accessories. Victoria Hickson | The Blue Bow Bridal Company | www.bluebowbridal.co.uk
