Your North East Wedding - July/August 2020 (Issue 39)

The church we picked was local and happened to be where my mum and dad got married, it had a special meaning us. West Hall scout campsite was also local and more exclusive as they only allow a small number of weddings per year where they rent out the grounds. It meant we could design the whole day ourselves and add every little detail. I made the favours myself; I ordered flat pack boxes and filled them with Lindt Chocolates and personalised Love Hearts. I then added handwritten name tags and tied them with some hessian string, which worked great for place names too! My dad fell ill in April 2018 and was sadly diagnosed with rare skin cancer in May. As he became more poorly, I asked Neil if we should think about planning a wedding so my dad could walk me down the aisle and see us get married. Unfortunately, before we had booked anything, I lost my dad in September, four months after his diagnosis. In the new year, we decided to book the wedding and keep to the original plan and dedicate the day to the memory of my dad by keeping everything local. The singer at our wedding ceremony sung Ave Maria , most people would have not known the meaning behind the song. Our table plan was finalised the night before with the help of my bridesmaids! 33 LOCAL INSPIRATION 
