Your North East Wedding - May/June 2020 (Issue 38)

MACDONALD’S FLEECY BEASTLIES Macdonald’s Fleecy Beastlies first started back in 2015 when owners Catriona and Simon Macdonald fell in love with alpacas as soon as they saw them. After plenty of research, they discovered Barnacre Alpacas which is run by Debbie and Paul Rippon. After a visit, a training day and plenty of chats they knew it was the perfect decision to get a few and Fleecy Beasties was born. Fast forward a few years, their fleet is now eight-strong and the family are experts on the ways of an alpaca and decided to share it with couples all over the North East. Catriona says, “We wanted to share our love and passion for both people and animals. Having extensive experience of working with a wide variety of people for more than 30 years, we believe spending time with our friendly, loveable ‘Fleecy Beastlies’ offers real therapeutic value.” Involvement at weddings is important to the company, whether it be to offer walks or provide photo opportunities, either way, it will be extremely enjoyable for all ages. Whether that be young people, the elderly or anyone in between. Other than these celebratory events, the business is happy to visit local fairs, schools, clubs, care homes, hospices and more. One-off visits or repeat sessions are available. Catriona adds: “We and the alpacas (especially if they know they’re going to be receiving carrot as a treat) will hope to see you soon!” To find out more visit www.fleecybeastlies.co.uk NORTH EAST MAGICIAN There are not many magicians that can say they’ve pickpocketed three prime minister’s watches, vanished the Beckham’s jewellery, floated money for the Minogue sisters, baffled Prince William and Harry with card tricks, sawn of Tom Jones’ arm and read the mind of the late David Bowie – but then Paul Lytton is one of the UK’s most sought after magicians. He says: “I started magic when I was 14; I went to the library to get a book on computers but found one on magic – I put the computer book straight back! “I’m very lucky to be doing what I’m doing, magic has taken me all over the world. My favourite events to perform at are weddings, and since I’m still based in Newcastle, I’m still affiliated with all the top venues, which means I get invited to entertain at many weddings.” It’s perfect to have some mix ‘n’ match magic during the drink’s reception while the bride and groom are busy with photos or during the period after the meal! It creates a buzz on the day. Paul has been performing at weddings for more than 20 years, so he knows exactly how to make it work well.
