This ceremony-only venue pairs the convenience of a city-centre location with the style and atmosphere of a historical setting Cheylesmore Manor House is a beautifully preserved remnant of a medieval royal palace, right in the heart of Coventry city centre. This striking timber- framed gatehouse is a significant piece of the city’s history and once formed part of the only unfortified royal palace outside London. Originally believed to have been built for the Earl of Arundel in 1237, the manor later passed to Queen Isabella, wife of Edward II, and eventually to her grandson, Edward the Black Prince. The building that survives today is the historic gatehouse and two cross wings of what was once an impressive medieval estate. Following the ceremony, you and your loved ones will make your way down a winding staircase and through a grand oak door into a large stone-flagged courtyard. This atmospheric open space still contains part of the original Coventry city wall, adding to the historical feel of the venue. Within the courtyard, a small wooden bridge, with the Manor House as its backdrop, offers the perfect spot for photographs, capturing timeless memories in a standout setting. Inside, the Manor House offers three characterful ceremony rooms, each furnished to a high standard while showcasing original beams, character features and period charm. Together, they create a memorable and atmospheric venue if you’re seeking a beautiful historical setting for those all-important “I dos”. The Black Prince Room is bursting with original character and features a vaulted, beamed ceiling, impressive stone fireplace and elegant medieval style chandeliers. This room, with space for 50 nearest and dearest, has been tastefully decorated to complement its heritage and provides a grand and memorable backdrop. The Queen Isabella Room, meanwhile, has a maximum capacity of 20. With beautiful exposed beams on both the walls and ceiling, this space is furnished to a high standard and is ideal for more intimate ceremonies. It offers you the opportunity to enter directly from the archway outside, then exit through a second grand oak door into the courtyard for photographs. If you choose to marry in The Black Prince Room or The Queen Isabella Room of the Manor House, you’ll be offered the choice between a Classic Ceremony or a Bespoke Ceremony at no additional cost. The Bespoke Ceremony includes a dedicated appointment with one of Coventry City Council’s ceremony coordinators, either at the Manor House or via Microsoft Teams, depending on your preference. This personalised appointment allows you to tailor your ceremony, ask questions and explore bespoke services, including wedding stationery and audio packages at excellent value. Finally, the Library Room is the most intimate of the ceremony spaces accommodating 10 guests. A cosy and welcoming ground floor room, it features stunning timber beams and is fully accessible for wheelchair users. From the first enquiry to the moment you say “I do,” the team here is committed to making your day as smooth, memorable and special as possible. No two relationships are the same, so no two ceremonies should be either.
