Your London Wedding - March/April 2021 (Issue 76)

HOT TOPIC Our experts solve your wedding dilemmas WANDERLUST Q We’d love a beach honeymoon but with some action too. Where do you recommend for summer, and how can we make sure we’re protected if it gets cancelled? If it’s luxury combined with action you’re after, then my recommendation would be Bali. Although it’s a relatively small destination, there’s a huge range of things to do once you’ve soaked up the sun on the white sandy beaches of Nusa Dua. You could try surfing off the coast of Kuta, diving in Nusa Lembongan or hiking up Bali’s highest volcano, Gunung Agung. If you’re feeling more adventurous, try white-water rafting on the Sungai Ayung or the jungle swing in Bali’s cultural heartland, Ubud. A visit to the sacred monkey forest is also a highlight. Bali’s dry season runs from May to September, and average temperatures of 27°C make it the perfect summer honeymoon destination. The best way to safeguard your money is to ensure you book a package with an ATOL and/or ABTA-bonded travel agent. Your money will be protected should the trip be cancelled, and the agent will either have to ensure your trip is refunded or moved to an alternative date. Also, make sure you have travel insurance from the day you book. That way your trip is covered, plus you’re protected should anything go wrong before you travel. Rhys Davies | Not Just Travel https://rhysdavies.notjusttravel.com PICK OF THE BUNCH Q What new floral trends will create impact at our micro-wedding? Dried flowers have been making a big comeback recently. Mindfulness and ethical buying has been the drive for this trend; couples want a more natural and foraged look with an environmentally friendly approach. Dried flowers are everlasting, which makes them budget-friendly – you can take them home after the big day to enjoy for a long time. Whether you’re incorporating unusual blooms, seed pods, dried grasses or other lasting greenery in your design, dried flowers lend themselves to so many different styles, from vintage and boho to contemporary. A firm favourite of ours is pampas grass. We love its fluffy and wild look, and it features prominently in arrangements because of its height, (it can grown more than two metres) adding impact with just a few stems. We also love to use spears and fan palms; their lines and texture add a clean and elegant look. Dried materials are available bleached and dyed in a range of shades, from soft and subdued to bold neon colours if you want maximum drama.
