Your London Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 73)

We ask London’s top beauty experts for their tips and must-have products Q&A https://step hanie-green.com MEET HAIRSTYLIST DEBORAH LOLA What are your top hair tips? ❤ To create volume and length, use clip-in extensions and curl them before clipping into your hair. ❤ Use a flexible-hold spray, which enables the hair to be easily brushed out. ❤ My all-time favourite tip is using washing up liquid – ideally Fairy – to wash your extensions.  What product can’t you live without? It has to be the Argan Secret oil. I’ve been using this product for more than six years and it has never let me down. It can be used on all hair types and textures, it smells amazing and a little goes a long way. Most of all, it’s perfect for all up dos and styles as it gives a nice smooth finish and shine. What’s the most common question you get asked by clients? I get asked lots of questions that I can go through with clients, from the order of your hair and make-up on the morning and if you need a trial to whether hair extensions are needed to achieve your desired look. Deborah Lola | www.deborahlola.com MEET MAKE-UP ARTIST JOY ADENUGA  What is your top beauty tip? To create a fresh glow, especially on a minimalist bride, I often use a highlighting blush instead of the traditional method of applying highlighter over the blusher. This technique gives a more healthy, youthful glow that the other method can’t mimic. What product can’t you live without? My Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is what I call a cult classic. I use it to moisturise, tame unruly brows and hair frizz and also as a balm. It’s definitely versatile and a hero product of mine. What’s the most common question you get asked by clients? Clients often ask if they need a trial. I advise brides to book a trial well in advance; it’s always worth it as it gives you an idea of how long your make- up will last and whether it’ll work with any outfit changes. You can experiment with different ideas and ask your entourage what they think. Make sure your chosen artist understands your skin type and uses the right products for you. They should consult you about any features you want to highlight or draw less attention to and offer solutions for any concerns such as hyper-pigmentation and dark circles. You want to feel your most confident. Joy Adenuga | www.joyadenuga.com https://bern ipalumbo.com MEET MAKE-UP ARTIST JOYCE CONNOR What is your top beauty tip? My beauty hack is to warm up your skincare in your hands before putting it on your skin. Gently rub creams, oils and liquids in your fingers then apply to your face. Warming up products, especially creams, helps to give even distribution and increases absorption. It takes longer for cold products to sink into your skin. What product can’t you live without? I have to have eye cream or serum. My eyes look fresh and feel amazing after using eye cream and I also use it on my lips to hydrate them. Add a dab of cream to your ring finger, pat both ring fingers together and tap around the eye area – the tapping motion helps to reduce puffiness. Apply any product left to your lips. What’s the most common question you get asked by clients? I always get asked how long make-up will last on the wedding day. I use professional-grade make-up coupled with expert skincare before application. The techniques that I use mean that your look should last for at least 12 hours. During a trial, I’ll always advise on the best skincare routine for you. Joyce Connor Make Up Artist | https://joyceconnormakeup.co.uk Beauty 82
