Yvonne and Giovanni chose an incredible local venue and filled it with personal touches Images courtesy of Jeff Oliver Photography T he way Yvonne and Giovanni first met evokes some real old- time romance. “We met at Victoria station,” Yvonne tells us. “He asked me for a coffee before we had to get our separate trains. We hit it off straight away, bonding over our love for Italian food!” Twelve years into their relationship, and Yvonne resigned herself to the fact that a proposal probably wasn’t going to come. “We went to Florence for my 30 th birthday,” she says. “After a romantic meal, we went for a walk and found ourselves in the main piazza. I was admiring the cathedral when Giovanni suddenly asked me to marry him! It was freezing cold, so the streets were deserted, which made it a very private moment.” The pair knew they wanted to get married in London as they had family flying in from around the world – Yvonne’s family from the U.S. and Giovanni’s from Gibraltar. Living near Greenwich Park for many years, they had often admired the Queen’s House, and the 17 th -century former royal residence made the ideal setting for them, so they set the date there for 22 nd June, 2019.
