Your London Wedding - July/August 2020 (Issue 72)

STATIONERY 63 NO CAN DO Of course, those weddings that were due to take place under lockdown have had to be called off. Some couples have decided to cancel plans for later in the year as the uncertainty has meant that even those rearranged days might not be able to go ahead. Some couples may plan to elope, or have a micro-wedding – but how do you communicate this? “If a wedding is cancelled, there’s no need to give a reason. If you decide to elope instead, consider sending a post-wedding announcement to family and friends who were unable to witness your special moment. You may want to send an attractive card with a photograph and details of your elopement or micro-wedding to make your nearest and dearest feel included, and know they’re in your hearts.” – Vaishali Shah, Ananya Cards “As in the case of the postponement, it’s best to send out printed cards to let your guests know as soon as possible. The etiquette allows you to not explain the reason for cancellation, simply letting p eople know is enough at this point. If t he cancellation took place very close to t he wedding, some follow-up calls or at l east a text might be required to ensure e veryone is aware.” – Julia Tarian, P olina Perri “I think a save-the-date style invitation, along with a wedding website for updates will become more and more useful in this situation. I already have a lot of couples who have put these to good use, or even a simple email list is great to keep people in the loop.” – Zoe Lacey, The Golden Letter “Make sure you’re communicating this to each guest, and keep a list to ensure you don’t leave anyone out. You won’t hurt anyone’s feelings by cancelling your wedding, but you might if you accidentally forget to tell someone. Speak from your heart, but keep the message clear. We’re living in unprecedented times, and emotions are heightened, so don’t worry about being overly formal. In fact, adding a personal touch to your message will show much you care. Remember, snail mail will continue to be one of those little joys in life, even during this dark time.” – Shoshana Bratton, Shoshy Cadoodle www.shos hycadoodle.com CONTACT OUR EXPERTS Vaishali Shah | Ananya Cards | www.ananyacards.com Domenica Francesca Goode | Cartalia Stationery Studio | www.cartalia.co.uk Julia Tarian | Polina Perri | www.polina-perri.co.uk  Kal Osahan | Quint London Wedding Stationery | www.quintlondon.com Shoshana Bratton | Shoshy Cadoodle | www.shoshycadoodle.com Zoe Lacey | The Golden Letter | www.thegoldenletter.co.uk www.ana nyacards.com www.ana nyacards.com | w ww.neliprahova.com www.ana nyacards.com www.cart alia.co.uk www.theg oldenletter.co.uk
