Your London Wedding - July/August 2020 (Issue 72)

REAL WEDDINGS 53  With a number of out-of-town guests, we decided to hire a vintage Routemaster bus to transport everyone. It’s also a distinctly British thing that our overseas visitors would enjoy. I wanted to be very eco-friendly, so I knew I wanted a second-hand dress. In Maryland, there’s a store that specialises in pre-loved designer dresses with the proceeds going to local charities. I loved my Pronovias gown, and I was able to donate money towards the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Foundation. My something old was my grandmother’s charm bracelet, a treasured family heirloom. The men looked dashing in traditional morning suits, with Joe wearing a top hat. I polled my best girls on what colours they liked, and they all agreed on burgundy. They wore floor-length burgundy numbers but each in their own style of dress so they all looked different but felt beautiful. Our day was extra special because of our wonderful photographer Jackie. She was my Flytographer (www.flytographer.com) wh en I first moved to London, and I mentioned to her that I had a date with a guy called Joe. A few months later, she was taking our engagement photos, then our wedding photos! We hope to have her document more of our big life moments.
