Your London Wedding - July/August 2020 (Issue 72)

I was starting to get tired of dress shopping when I saw Liam by Sottero & Midgley online. I loved the vintage, classic look of the beading and the crepe fabric. I accessorised it with a diamanté hairclip, my sister’s Manolo Blahnik-style shoes and my mum’s diamond bracelet. My bridesmaid Tilly did an amazing job with my make-up. We added lots of personal elements such as the photo areas in the bar with pictures of family who couldn’t be with us, as well as two large gold frames showing childhood pictures of me and Chas. Our fur baby, Bernard the pug, couldn’t be with us on the day so I made cut-outs of him to adorn the venue! The cake was made by my incredibly talented friend. It was three delicious tiers of red velvet, white chocolate and raspberry, and topped with a fruit cake. She created a gorgeous white, gold and dusky pink marble effect and fantastic sugar flowers and foliages that we’ve kept as a memento.  I made a giant sign from maroon fabric and gold leaf saying “Till death do us party”, which hung in the auditorium. It really stood out and was a great backdrop for photos. I also made a giant canopy of faux wisteria that hung from the staircase. We made full use of the venue’s theatrical lighting to create the atmosphere we wanted. REAL WEDDINGS 47
