Leanne and George bought the outside in for their east London do Images courtesy of Emma Case A dmittedly, George may have had ‘a few’ when, on their very first meeting, he told Leanne’s dad that he’d marry her one day but, to be fair, he did make good on his promise – eventually! “We met at Newmarket Races in 2012,” Leanne explains. “I was there with my family and George came over to chat to me and my family. He ended up telling my dad that one day we’d get married. We swapped numbers but didn’t manage to go on a date and we fell out of touch for a few years, In 2016, we started speaking again and finally went on our first date.” And despite his earlier pledge, when George surprised Leanne with tickets for the Belmond British Pullman to Bath, she hadn’t considered that he was about to pop the question. “Halfway through the journey, I joked that, one day, he’d have to think of something even better if he ever wanted to propose. He went a bit quiet, pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him,” she laughs. With roots in East London, the couple wanted their wedding to reflect their family ties. Here, Leanne tells us more about their big day…  I think I’m gonna Leanne Leahy, 32, married George Donohoe, 28, at Hackney Town Hall followed by a reception at Mile End Ecology Pavilion on 29 th June, 2019. marry you REAL WEDDINGS 33
