Your London Wedding - Jan/Feb 2020 (Issue 69)

70 In recognition of the growing popularity of intimate, relaxed weddings in the heart of London, this shoot was conceived to showcase the ultimate in London bridal style. Dress designer Kate Edmundson knew that Carlton Terrace’s central location, just a stone’s throw from Trafalgar Square, would make the perfect setting for the cool, casual elopement-style look she had in mind. “We created three looks for the shoot,” she explains. “First, a less formal look perfect for a rehearsal dinner or engagement shoot; second, a more demure style, ideal for a civil ceremony; and last, an outfit for a relaxed evening reception. “For the rehearsal dinner, I created a blazer dress – double-breasted with a single button and loop fastening detail – made from Mikado fabric for a soft, tailored look, featuring a a puff and fitted sleeve with cover button detail. We teamed the jacket with a beaded headband and earrings from Victoria Percival and completed the look with boots from Freya Rose. “The second look was for the civil ceremony. Here, we were aiming for ultra modern so I chose a light, embroidered tulle fabric, plunging neckline and open back detail with a small puddle train at the back. The front is part-lined, allowing transparency with a light, airy feel. “Last, the evening reception. This time, we plumped for a full-length tulle dress with 3D tulle textured bodice. The skirt is plain tulle with a front split detail, allowing easy movement to dance the evening away.” JUST THE TWO of us Images courtesy of Rachel Vogeleisen
