Ceremonies can take place in any of the barn’s five spaces – the most popular is the Estcourt, where 200 guests can witness your vows or, for more intimate dos, Shipton and the mezzanine can accommodate 100 and 65 loved ones respectively. On clement days, the ceremony lawn is ideal for parties of 200 friends and family or the Orangery in the Tythe House is a charming space. The barn’s fairy-lit canopy, which sits directly above the dancefloor, lends atmosphere to receptions, not to mention there’s accommodation for up to 90 partygoers on site. Ceremony licence? In its 900-year history, Leeds Castle has been a Norman stronghold, the private property of six Medieval queens, and even a palace owned by Henry VIII. In the early 20 th century, it served as an elegant retreat for the rich and famous when Lady Baillie, the last private owner, entertained high society guests down from London. Today, the castle is still the most captivating of settings for a fairytale wedding celebration. Ceremonies take place in the refurbished Ceremony Room adjoining the Library. The daylight streaming through the beautiful long French window and soft colours of the room bring a sense of calm to proceedings and there’s room for 100 guests here. The Library is ideal for a toast to the newlyweds before your loved ones sit down to a banquet-style wedding breakfast in the aptly named Henry VIII Banqueting Hall. Larger parties of up to 200 friends and family can avail themselves of the Fairfax Hall, a Kentish timber-framed barn that offers spectacular views of the castle across the moat. Ceremony licence?
