GOLDEN Grand and Dorna and Akil’s fairytale wedding at the Kimpton Fitzroy blended culture, luxury and personal touches Images courtesy of The Wed Memories These lovebirds met through mutual friends on social media. What started as a few casual messages quickly grew into long chats, shared jokes and an effortless connection. Even though they were in different places at the time, the bond felt real from the start. “When we finally met in person, it just confirmed everything,” Dorna says. “It wasn’t dramatic, just a calm knowing that we’d found something real. We’ve supported one another through everything and built a life filled with love, meaning and joy.” Akil proposed in Dubai, turning what was meant to be an ordinary evening into something unforgettable. He led Dorna to a private suite overlooking The Palm at sunset, where a violinist played and the balcony glowed with candles, petals and a heart of roses. “It was surreal,” Dorna recalls. “He told me to get ready for dinner but instead surprised me with the most breathtaking setting. When he got down on one knee, I was completely overwhelmed.” After she said “yes”, the celebrations continued with a private balcony dinner of her favourite dishes, cocktails and desserts, plus two cakes reading “She said yes” and “Forever”. “Just when I thought it couldn’t get more emotional, he played a 20-minute film of our memories together. We spent the next five days celebrating in Dubai — it felt like pure magic.” SETTING THE SCENE From their first visit, the Kimpton Fitzroy in London captured their hearts. “The ballroom felt like a fairytale with soaring ceilings, breathtaking architecture and romantic touches. It just felt like the place we were meant to say ‘I do’,” Dorna says. The Palm Court, filled with natural light and marble, offered an elegant contrast. “The two spaces created a perfect balance of drama and softness,” she adds. With their shared love of art and architecture, the venue felt like a modern castle in the heart of the city. “When we left after the first visit, I burst into happy tears as I just knew it was perfect.” The couple embraced the ballroom’s gold and white interiors with a palette of white, gold and nude. “We wanted something timeless, luxurious and romantic, enhancing the beauty of the space rather than competing with it.” Flowers were kept white with minimal greenery for a refined REAL WEDDINGS 21

look. Every element throughout the day was bespoke with cream velvet invitation boxes tied with ribbon, revealing an illustration of the Fitzroy and a gold mirror plate with the day’s details. Inside, a monogrammed envelope held a QR code linking to the wedding website. “The boxes were designed like keepsake books, something guests could treasure,” the bride adds. The tables felt like an intimate dinner party with gold mirror menus, personalised tassels and gold picture frames in place of name cards. Favours were diamond-like ring boxes tied with engraved ribbon, each filled with noghle, a Persian sweet symbolising joy and celebration. TO DINE FOR Food and drink were as memorable as the setting. Guests were welcomed with hors d’oeuvres including lobster croustades, spiced lamb kofta, glazed chicken skewers and truffle goat’s cheese crostini. “For something sweet, we offered praline ice cream cones and miso caramel apple tarts — indulgent and playful.” The sit-down meal featured choices such as wagyu beef short rib, hot smoked salmon, and truffled chicken liver parfait to start, followed by chicken breast with wild garlic, miso-glazed cod or Suffolk beef tenderloin. Desserts included banana cheesecake with passionfruit sorbet, Guanaja chocolate ganache with pistachio namelaka and a vegan salted caramel slice. “As the night went on, we served warm lobster rolls and cheeseburger sliders,” Dorna says. Drinks included his-and-hers margaritas, carefully paired wines, prosecco and a full bar. An 11-tiered cake, decorated with delicate white flowers and pearls, offered rich Dubai-inspired flavours of dark chocolate, pistachio cream and kunafa. “It was the perfect balance of overthe-top and understated,” says the bride. From a custom DJ booth and dancefloor to personalised cake-cutting forks, every detail was considered. A lighting engineer created a soft, romantic atmosphere for dinner, then turned up the energy for dancing. LOOKING THE PART Dorna wore seven dresses across the celebration. “I realised I didn’t need to choose just one. Each dress spoke to a different moment, from timeless elegance to playful glamour,” she says. These included a lace mermaid gown with a flowing train and a custom Galia Lahav veil for the traditional ceremony, a satin ballgown with an off-shoulder neckline for the Persian ceremony and a sleek satin gown with gloves, a feather boa and a playful ‘Wifey for Lifey’ clutch for the prosecco tower. A heavily embellished crystal ballgown was worn for the grand entrance, while a strapless reworked Oscar de la Renta dress was worn for the first dance. A pearl-encrusted mermaid gown by Lorenzo Rossi was picked for dancing in the evening, while a silver fringe mini from Annie’s Ibiza was to end the night in style. She paired her gowns with eight pairs of shoes, including a favourite lace heel by Alexandre Birman, and began the day in four bridal morning looks, from a crystal-adorned robe to feather pyjamas and slip dresses. Akil wore a custom Forbes Tailors suit, while the groomsmen chose classic black tie and the bridesmaids wore champagne satin oneshoulder gowns. TIME TO CELEBRATE The entertainment was layered from start to finish. Guests were welcomed by a violinist, enjoyed a live trio in Palm Court and experienced singers, violinists, drummers and even a ballerina during both the ceremonies. “As the evening began, the energy turned up with DJs, live percussion, trumpets, surna and drummers. The music was a mix of English, Persian and Albanian, and guests danced all night.” Dorna adds. “We wanted it to feel like an experience, not just a wedding.” There were so many highlights from the day for the pair, like walking into the ballroom as husband and wife, and seeing everything they’d dreamed of come to life. The bride says, “There were also quiet, personal moments like the look on Akil’s face during the ceremony, the gold mirror menus, the Persian favours our guests held onto and more. It truly was the most magical day of our lives!” 22

romance Roses and From spin class to “I do”, discover Lemon and Tom’s winter wedding in London Images courtesy of Marcel Grabowski Photography REAL WEDDINGS 29

When she’s not designing for her popular brand, Lemonade Dolls, Lemon teaches spin classes. It was during one of these classes that her and Tom first met. Just like that, their love story began, and the rest quickly became history. Fast forward time, Tom proposed on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City on May 5th 2024, creating a moment they would never forget. SETTING THE SCENE At the beginning of September 2024, Lemon was back in New York for Fashion Week when she and Tom decided over FaceTime that they were going to get married that year. They both knew they wanted a London winter wedding, and their dream reception venue was Sessions Arts Club. When the team confirmed availability for December 14th, they didn’t hesitate to book, which meant planning their entire wedding in just three months! Next came the search for the perfect ceremony venue. At first they had little luck, until one of Tom’s colleagues suggested checking out Trinity House. The moment they walked in, they fell in love. Lemon recalls, “It had everything we wanted with elegance, history and the most incredible team. We confirmed the date that same day because when you know, you know.” Within two weeks, both venues were booked, leaving just ten weeks to plan the rest. IT’S ALL IN THE DETAIL Roses were the main theme for the flowers, both for the ceremony and the reception. Lemon and Tom wanted everything to feel like the perfect winter wedding, so they asked their florist to bring a subtle Christmas vibe into all the bouquets and arrangements. “I never imagined having large, elaborate centrepieces, so we decided on singlestem roses instead,” says Lemon. “Our tables were filled with hundreds of quirky rose-filled glass vases in different shapes and colours, surrounded by candles of every size, all lined down the centre of the tables. The result felt intimate and classy.” The couple didn’t spend too much time on stationery or the extras that many weddings focus on. Their priority was incredible food, multiple drink stations, cocktails, Champagne and little treats throughout the night. It was important that guests never went without a drink in hand, and the pair made sure there was always plenty of food. LOOKING THE PART Lemon looked beautiful in a Pronovias dress called Marilyn, a long, simple white dress. After 30

dinner, she changed into a lace catsuit and trainers so she could dance the night away! “This was one of the hardest decisions for me, but after much deliberation, I went for a simple white dress that felt most comfortable,” says the bride. “WEM Bridal was amazing, and I had the most incredible experience with the team!” Tom looked dapper in a deep green velvet Hackett tux while the groomsmen and Lemon’s two co–men of honour wore a classic tux, and the co– maid of honour wore a stunning deep red dress to match the red roses. CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES To set the mood, a beautiful string quartet played during the ceremony and continued into the Champagne reception at Trinity House, creating a truly magical atmosphere. Once the couple arrived at Sessions Arts Club, they wanted to take the energy even higher. Guests enjoyed a limoncello bar on the terrace, while the music kept spirits soaring. After dinner, a walking brass band with a live singer kicked off the celebrations, followed by a DJ who kept everyone dancing. MEMORABLE MOMENTS The biggest highlight for the couple was having all the people they love in one room. For them, it was truly the best feeling ever. Lemon recalls, “Another unforgettable moment was right after we got married, when Trinity House led us into a private room to share a glass of Champagne just Tom and me. It was perfect. And later, dancing with our favourite people while our walking brass band played our favourite songs was absolutely epic!” REAL WEDDINGS 31

Amore Discover this Italian garden shoot filled with romantic and elegant touches Images courtesy of Maxeen Kim Photography From the moment wedding planner Natasha Grant at Pearline Events stepped into Chiswick House, she was inspired to showcase its striking architecture and rich heritage. Drawing on the grandeur of the venue and the charm of Italian design, the shoot blended soft pink patterns and classic garden influences. Handwritten calligraphy place cards, featuring names of Chiswick House’s historic visitors, tied the past and present together. With a talented team of creatives, they introduced colour and texture through a lush floral tablescape with gilded accents, while a floral arch on the stone terrace transformed the meadows into a romantic ceremony space. The bride wore a V-neck gown with soft waves, polished makeup and elegant earrings, while the groom’s classic tuxedo embodied timeless romance. Created for couples dreaming of a sophisticated, colourful celebration, this shoot beautifully honours the elegance and heritage of Chiswick House. IN BLOOM REGIONAL SHOOT 35

The ultimate guide to finding the perfect flowers to match your wedding day unsplash.com/@srosinger3997 Wedding flowers are far more than just décor; they’re the heartbeat of the celebration. They frame your vows, line the path to your future and set the tone for every unforgettable moment. Each bloom has taken its own journey, growing from seed to full flourish, just as your love has grown, rooted, nurtured and blossomed. From the softest petals to the most dramatic floral display, these are the touches that transform a venue into a storybook setting. Every stem speaks a silent language of beauty, emotion and memory. This is our tribute to all things floral: the delicate, the bold, the intricate and the awe-inspiring. CEREMONY FLORALS Start your day with florals that not only add beauty to the space but also infuse it with emotion and romance. Ceremony flowers create the first visual chapter of your love story, from aisle to altar. Frame your walk with lush floral installations or soft greenery. Whether you’re dreaming of bold impact or subtle elegance, think beyond tradition with broken arches or moon arches for their asymmetrical beauty and editorial finish. Aisle accents aren’t limited to petals; consider mini arrangements tied to chairs, delicate lanterns nestled with blooms or even floral touches along railings, staircases and fireplaces. Don’t overlook the entryway; adding grand urns, wreaths or a flower-adorned welcome sign can make a beautiful first impression. Just ensure your floral choices reflect the venue’s scale and your overall theme. unsplash.com/@sadmax A PERSONAL MASTERPIECE Your bouquet should be an extension of you, your style, your story and your moment. Whether you’re going for timeless elegance, boho wildness or modern minimalism, your bouquet can set the tone. The design goes beyond colour and flowers. Think about texture, scent, shape and finishing details like trailing ribbons, statement greener or even heirloom charms tucked inside. Size and structure matter too. Oversized bouquets may overpower the silhouette or be tricky to handle, while smaller ones might disappear in photographs. From round and romantic to cascading and whimsical, choose a style that’s both photogenic and manageable. Don’t forget the bridal party! Opt for smaller bouquets that harmonise with your arrangement without mirroring the look completely. PRETTY PETALS For a sustainable flourish, use biodegradable flower petal confetti for that magical exit moment. Choose colours and textures that reflect your palette and create beautiful floating effects in your photos, leaving a lasting impression that’s elegant and eco-friendly.
