Your London Wedding - September/October 2025 (Issue 103)

Editor Olivia Gibson experiences luxury and leisure at the Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch Tucked away in the vibrant heart of East London lies the Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch, a sophisticated fusion of contemporary luxury and historic charm. Housed in a Grade II listed Baroque-style building that once served as a magistrates’ court, the Hotel blends classic architecture with bold design and upscale comfort. From skyline views and rooftop cocktails to rejuvenating spa experiences and indulgent breakfasts, every moment of our stay was crafted for comfort, pleasure and a welcome escape. SETTING THE SCENE From the moment the lobby doors glided open, the tone was polished, professional, and undeniably chic. The team greeted us with a warm welcome and handled checkin with effortless efficiency. We were fortunate enough to stay in the Shoreditch Sky Terrace Suite, a sprawling 60 m² retreat that blends contemporary design and cosy elegance with direct entry to Upper 5th Shoreditch, the Hotel’s exclusive rooftop bar. The spacious bedroom featured a plush bed that felt like sleeping on a cloud, wrapped in silky-soft linens and topped with plump pillows. The expansive bathroom was a highlight in itself with double sinks, a luxurious walk-in rainfall shower, and a bathtub. The lounge area was designed for both relaxation and entertainment. A wraparound sofa, dining table, large flat-screen TV, and a well-stocked minibar offered everything needed. WELLNESS AND INDULGENCE We had full access to the hotel’s tranquil spa facilities and, naturally, we made the most of it. Our visit began with a serene 30-minute Swedish couple’s massage in a softly lit treatment room, where the calming music and gentle aromatherapy set the stage for deep relaxation. The masseuses were attentive and skilled, leaving us feeling calm and re-energised. Following our treatment, we ventured to the 10-metre heated pool with its cascading jet fountain and jacuzzi-style bubbles before enjoying the sauna and steam room. It was a soul-soothing experience, and after a day of pampering, we felt wonderfully refreshed. A MORNING TO REMEMBER The next morning began with breakfast at Judge & Jury, the Hotel’s stylish restaurant nestled within the building’s original courtroom. Retaining its historic features, it provides a unique and atmospheric setting for a leisurely breakfast. The buffet catered to all tastes, with options ranging from pastries, cereals and fruit to full hot breakfast offerings. I enjoyed a plate of scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, hashbrowns, grilled tomato, and toast, followed by a buttery croissant and sweet cinnamon swirl to finish. The team was attentive and friendly, offering help with anything from toasting bread to delivering rich coffees and indulgent hot chocolates with a smile. We left the restaurant energised and content, ready to explore London. CELEBRATE IN STYLE Whether you’re planning a wedding, anniversary, or special event, Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch offers an unforgettable setting. Fully licensed for civil ceremonies and boasting a selection of individually styled event spaces, the property is ideal for everything from intimate gatherings to larger celebrations. When the party winds down, the hotel offers a unique selection of honeymoon and luxury suites for the perfect postcelebration wind-down.
